Chapter 20

Selena's POV

I danced with Jason for ages and I realised that he was the one. He was just perfect. I cannot stand Chloe though. I just don't get her. Nicole is the nicest person ever and why does Chloe hate her so much?

'Attention! The voting line is now over, you cannot vote anymore. The votes have been counted and I will tell you the Ice Queen and Ice King within the next 20 minutes." Brianna shouted.

Me and Brianna are really close and she's been my mate since primary. She's extremely nice and hella pretty. She's kind of mates with Chloe's mate, Amanda, which is why Nicole doesn't really want to know her. She likes Nicole though and wants to get to know her but she's scared Nic will reject her.

"I need to do something babes," I said to Jason.

"Erm what do you need to do?" I asked him.

"I need to talk to Brianna, I'll be 5 minutes tops," I said to him.

I walked to Brianna who was behind the stage, getting ready to share with everyone who won the votes.

"Hi B, tell me who won," I said to her.

"I'm not supposed to tell you but you and Jason actually won! People weren't keen on voting for Chloe because they don't really like James that much but she came second place anyways." Brianna told me, as quietly as she could.

"Oh, that's awesome but what place did Nicole and Adam come?" I asked.

She looked at her list of sheet which showed the result numbers.

"She came second to last and there was 25 people who signed up so she came 24th place," she said, sadly.

"Could you say that Nic and Adam won rather than me? I'd literally do anything. She's kind of had a shit night. Please, Bri." I asked her.

"I don't know, Lena, I mean I'll try to like sneak it on the sheet without anyone knowing but if anyone finds out, I'll be in big shit." She said.

"Thanks Bri, love you and I'm loving your dress tonight, you look gorgeous hun!" I squealed.

I went to Jason and contemplated whether I should tell him or not. I decided not to tell him or anyone else. The less people knowing, the better. I walked to Jason and we sat down on the dinner tables, getting ready for the performance.

This year the people organising the ball decided that we should have about 7 people performing on the stage whilst waiter's served popcorn and wine. That's the best they could do because there wasn't enough money to fund proper meals but no one really minded.

I sat on the round dinner table along with Jason, Adam and Nicole. There was loads of round tables which allowed four people maximum to sit around.

After all the people performing finished, Brianna and Elle came onto the stage and was going to announce the Ice Queen and Ice King of tonight's ball.

"And the Ice Queen and Ice King is...." Bri said loudly.

The audience was tense and all eyes were on Brianna and Elle.

"Adam and Nicole!" They said in unison.

Few of the audience clapped and they both walked onto the stage. Nicole was happy but she knew there was something wrong from the facial expressions of the audience.

Elle put the Diamond 'Ice' Crown on Nicole and Adam. Brianna put a badge on them but the badge wasn't like any other badge, it had diamond crystals all around it which glittered under the lights.

They walked off the stage and everyone got up from the tables. Some of them left to go home and the rest went to dance. I went to dance with Jason and Adam told us he was going to head off with Nicole.

We swayed to the beat off the music and let the music take control of our bodies. The music was loud and drained everyone's voices out and I instantly relaxed.

She knew she was hated. She was never going to be happy. He was too unhappy yet she never knew. Will she find out about the ghost of his past? Will he find out that she's still unhappy? Will he ever see beyond everything that she was the girl that was slowly dying...
