New and old aquaintances

Start from the beginning

Alice comes back in. She sets the magazine that was from years ago on the counter. I look at it and see some of the pictures from Italy. "I don't know how I never noticed it before. You are Clary fray" she says. "The one and only," I say a smile growing on my face. "I should have realized from last night because of that dress everyone said you made. I also probably should have known because of Jace too. Everything you designed was amazing. Why did you leave" she asks. "Well Thank you. I loved the job don't get me wrong. It was a lot of work. It was stressful at times. I still love doing it. I left because after I got married we left New York to Idris" I say. "I even remember you working and stressing about it at the beach," Izzy says.

"Anyways..." I say trying to change the subject, "it's not a date Izzy" I say. "I am going to meet my brother there. I kinda mentioned Jonathan was my boyfriend and he wants to meet Jonathan" Alice says. "Oh, poor Jonathan" is all Izzy says. I feel bad for him too. Her parents aren't here so he has to meet the big brother who may be just as scary as meeting the dad sometimes. And she has already met his parents so now it's his turn. Her big brother is probably pretty close and as protective as her father. I know if Jace ever hurt me Jonathan wouldn't be too happy about it.

"I will just go change and we can go," I say. Izzy hands me Grace and I go upstairs to our room. I set Grace down on our bed and change her diaper and her clothes. I change her into a little blue onesie. I set her down in her bassinet while I go to the bathroom and take my hair out of my French braid. I shake it out and brush through it. I look through my duffle bag and pull out a grey sweater, pink and white scarf, black skinny jeans, light brown ugg boots, and put my hair in a cute messy bun.

I put some light makeup on and brush my teeth. I pick up Grace and leave the bedroom.

I see Jem come out of Logan's room. "Tessa had to go home and work. She rarely goes into the office so she can just work from home. I'm going to run Logan home soon he is running a fever" Jem says. Oh no. I can't have Grace getting sick. "That may be a good idea," I say. "Yeah. I'm going to get him some breakfast and get him changed then take him home" Jem says and goes down the hall.

I follow Jem down the hall and see Jace and Maryse talking at the bottom of the steps. "Jace I'm telling you it's too long. You need to cut it" she says. "Cut what," I ask. "Maryse keeps telling me my hair is too long. She is making me cut it" Jace says. "It's not that bad," I say. "See Maryse," Jace says. "You are cutting it," she says sternly. "Why" he whines. "One, because I said so. Two, because it is too long!" He sighs in defeat. You've got to give Maryse some credit for this. She is making hard, stubborn Jace does something he doesn't want to. I love his long curly long hair. If he does cut it, it better not be too short. "If you do cut it don't let it be too short," I say.

"Go get changed and we can leave," I say. "See ya Maryse," Jace says and goes up the stairs happily and down the hall to our room.

"I didn't see you at the coronation," I say. "I know I'm sorry. I just wasn't feeling up to coming to Idris. I heard people from everywhere was there" she says. "They were. When we were going through the city to get to the castle for the first time it was so crowded because of all of the people" I say. "How is it living in the castle," she asks me. "The castle is really nice. Being a queen and king is hard and a lot of work. But it is all totally worth it in the end" I say. "I bet," she says. "I may have a picture of the castle," I say. I pull my phone out of my pocket and go to my photos. "Can I hold Grace?" she asks. "Sure," I say. I pass grace to her. I find a picture of the castle and show it to her. "Oh it's beautiful," she says. "It's even prettier when you are in front of it in person. The coronation was an open invitation anyone could come to the ball. You should come sometime" I say. "Sometimes. I will have to figure out a time" she says. "Yeah," I say. "So are you busy there," she asks. "All the time. But we always try to find some time for ourselves" I say. "And do you," she asks. "Sometimes," I say. "So not much," she asks. "It just depends on what we have to do that day," I say. "I understand," she says.
