SHAY

1 February

"She's beautiful."

The only words that I've been able to muster up in the last hour.

Since Poppy was placed in my arms she hasn't been anywhere else, aside from the moments that Harry got to hold her in his arms.

I was blown away by how incredibly tiny she was, even for a late arrival. She could fit in the palm of Harry's hand if he really tried. Never have I seen a baby so small. I've seen plenty of babies, from afar, in my time, but none of them were newborns.

She had the perfect amount of dark hair atop her soft head; the strands being hidden away by a little pink cap that was provided. I couldn't get over the way her lips parted with big yawns every so often or the way they suckled tenderly at my breast.

Breastfeeding for the first time had proved to be quite a difficult and frustrating challenge, but we got there. Harry probably enjoyed the events more than I did, if I'm being quite honest.

A lot of people say that newborns aren't the cutest thing in the world, they resemble, on occasion, potatoes (as an acquaintance of mine once said). But to me, Poppy is the epitome of beauty.

In the last few minutes her eyes had opened to world, a blue hue looking directly into my own blue eyes. She had the most incredible eyes.

"Hello there, baby girl." Harry coos in a soft tone, his body shifting besides me slightly.

During the last hour, my heart has grown 100% fonder for Harry, which I didn't even know was possible. Men with babies are kryptonite for a lot of women, and seeing Harry with Poppy nearly killed my heart. I found a new love for him.

That being said, I couldn't help but think back to the moments in Hyde Park, between the painful contractions and my water breaking. He doesn't think I know what he was doing before I so rudely interrupted him, but I do. No man just gives his woman such a heartfelt speech, unless he's breaking up with her softly or proposing to her.

In all this time since, there hasn't been a real quiet moment between us that wasn't spent freaking out or calling our friends and family.

I can't just make him wait in silence until he feels compelled to ask me again. Between nappy changes, sleepless nights, and hovering family and friends, it may be months before he gives it another go.

"Yes." I say out of the blue. I shock myself by the word leaving my mouth alone, with no context or reasoning.

Harry tears his eyes from our daughter lying still in my arms, sleeping away the day. I take a deep breath and fight the choking feeling of crying deep in my throat.

"I'll marry you." Harry looks completely shocked, eyes going wide as his jaw slightly drops.

"What?" I chuckle lightly to myself, careful not too cause too much motion and fully wake our daughter.

"I know what you were asking me in the park before my water broke. You were on your way down to one knee when I interrupted you. I don't want you to have to wait and ask me properly, nor do I want to be asked properly. I just want to be engaged to you."

"You do?"

"Of course I do, Harry. I adore you; I love you with all of my heart."

"I love you too." He says, leaning down and kissing my lips passionately. "I love you both."

And with that Shay and Harry arrived at their perfect eucatastrophe, happy ending.
