Your child asks an awkward question

You slowly opened an eyelid, to find yourself still resting on harris- your head on his left thigh, and the rest of you draped across the couch. As you were about to sit up, you noticed your five year old daughter, zara bouncing on his right leg. You decided to pretend you were still asleep, and so quickly shut both your eyes again, in order not to interrupt the cute conversation they were having.
“Daddy?” Your daughter asked sweetly. You peaked open your eyes, but only a little, so it seemed to them you were still asleep. Harris smiled proudly at his daughter,
“Yes, zara?” He responded.
“You know when a baby is born?”
“Um… Yes” He stuttered.
“How can they tell if it’s a boy or a girl?” She questioned, innocently. Harris’s eyes widened,
“Ahh…umm… You see…” He trailed off, not quite sure what to say. You bit back a laugh, determined to stay silent.
“Daddy? Tell me!!” She whined. Harris bit his lip, carefully choosing his words before answering,
“Well, it’s magic. The nurses and doctors look at the baby, and it instantly clicks in their mind, 'Yes, this is a baby girl!’ Or 'Yes, this is a baby boy’ it’s all magic” zara looked at him skeptically,
“Don’t talk nonsense, daddy! Magic doesn’t exist.” She shook her head, unimpressed, and obviously not buying the rubbish your husband had just told her. Harris quickly tried again,
“Okay. So you tell me, what is the main difference between a boy and a girl?”
“Boys smell!” She giggled. Harris chuckled, poking her in the stomach
“Yes, love. When you and mummy were born, the hospital smelt of lovely roses- but when me and your brother, zayn, were born, we were shooed out because we made the hospital smell of skunks. And that’s how they tell apart a boy and a girl!” He rambled on. Harris stared at him,
“Daddy, I was only joking” harris sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“Yes, yes, I know. So, okay, tell me another huge difference”
“Oh, I know daddy, I know!” She exclaimed.
“Go on” He urged.
“Boys have no hair when they are born!” harris seemed lost for a second, until a huge false smile spread across his face,
“Yes darling, well done!” He smiled, and kissed the top of her head lightly.
You slowly sat up, and let out a fake yawn,
“Oh, hey you two” You smiled at the two of them.
“Mummy!” Zara exclaimed, climbing into your lap. You grinned, holding the five year old close. Harris’s eyes narrowed, and you knew he could see right through your lies,
“You know, I could’ve used some help back there” He grumbled. You smirked, and reached over to ruffle his hair lightly,
“You did great” you assured him.
“No he didn’t!” Your son, Zayn, chortled from the corner of the room,
“Zara, mum and dad lied” He said. You and harris exchanged worried glances, and shot glares at the twelve year old,
“Zara, you know whether it’s a boy or girl, because-”
“Don’t!” Harris yelled, intent on not scarring the mind of your younger daughter, he quickly placed a firm hand over your son’s mouth. Zayn licked Harris’s palm, and he jumped back yelling a 'yuck’ and wiping his hand on his jumper,
“Boys have a willy!” Zayn yelled, before running out the room, and having Harris chase after him- leaving your daughter completely horrified.
