Chapter 22: Tournament Day 2: Bonds

Referee: "This is the semi final match. Ash and May vs Paul and Brendan. This will be a 2v2 match and switch outs are allowed. I will announce when the Pokemon has fainted. Trainers, send out your first Pokemon."

May: "Let's go Beautifly."

Ash: "Come out Sceptile."

Paul: "Wipe them out Drapion!"

Brendan: "Stand alert Milotic."

The trainers all stare at each other waiting for someone to make the first move.

May: "Beautifly, Sunny Day." The sun shines brightly across the field.

Paul: "Setting something up huh? Well Drapion Toxic Spikes." Drapion lays toxic spikes over the field.

Ash and Brendan stand looking at each other still waiting for the first offensive attack.

*In the stands*

Dawn: "This is a much more patient battle than I thought."

Gary: "We haven't seen much of Brendan, so Ash wants to play it safe, but on the same side Brendan knows Ash is strong, so he's waiting it out. Get ready for a long battle."

*Back to the field*

Brendan: "Paul go ahead and make your moves, I'll back you up." Paul nods his head.

Paul: "Drapion Poison Sting on Beautifly."

Ash: "Sceptile intercept with Bullet Seed."

Brendan: "Ice Beam now." 

May: "Beautifly Stun Spore."

Brendan: 'A status move huh.'

Sceptile deals a bit of damage with Bullet Seed, as it hits Drapion, but Sceptile gets hit with a super effective Ice beam. Milotic gets hit by Stun Spore and gains Paralysis.

Ash: "Sceptile move in and use Leaf Blade."

Brendan: "Milotic counter with Aqua Tail."

Paul: "Drapion Poison Sting again."

May: "B-beautifly Gust!"

May slightly stutters giving time for Drapion to hit Sceptile with a Poison Sting, as it engages with Milotic. Sceptile falls back and gets slightly injured by poison.

Brendan: "Your gonna have to speed up Sapphire. Your having Ash's Pokemon take most of the hits."

May: 'What's happening. Why is my calls so much slower!'

Ash: "May calm down. Don't let him get into your head."

Paul: "Drapion move in and useCcrunch."

Ash: "Sceptile keep your distance and use Leaf Storm."

Brendan: "Milotic use Hydro Pump."

May hesitates again.

May: "Beautifly u-use Silver Wind."

The hesitation allows Milotic to block the Leaf Storm, as Drapion moves in.

Ash: "Damn it. Sceptile Leaf Blade!"

Paul: "Drapion switch. Use Ice Fang."

Drapion lands a super effective Ice Fang, before Sceptile is able to launch a Leaf Blade.

Ash grits his teeth.

Ash: "Sceptile you okay?"

Sceptile falls to one knee, before nodding his head.

Brendan: "Come on Sapphire. You came out here confident to show me this?"

Paul: "Brendan. We're switching our target."
