Ash and May are sitting in the waiting room. May prays, while Ash stretches out.
Ash: "May relax. It's just a battle not a your life on the line."
May: "I'm sorry! I'm just so nervous!"
Ash: "Don't worry about it. That part comes when we go to the finales. Right now focus on playing your part and we'll do just fine."
May: "Right!"
Announcers: "Now coming from the left side. Champion Ash Ketchum and Rising Star May Maple!"
Ash and May walk out, as Ash simply waves and May walks besides him taking in the energy from the crowd.
Crowd: "LET'S GO ASH!!"
May: "Guess they really love you huh?"
Ash: "Ha. No. Remember we're partners, so they'll love us!"
May smiles, before both look over at their competitors Josh and Mark.
Mark: "We really got the short end pulling Ash and May in the first round huh?"
Josh: "Hey! We'll show the world that underdogs can still win it!"
Ash: "I love your enthusiasm, but unfortunately I'm gonna have to end that."
May: "We're here to win it!"
Referee: "This will be a 2v2 match. Trainers may only use one Pokemon per person. That Pokemon can be from either one of the teams. I will announce when the Pokemon has fainted. The battle will end when both Pokemon from either team has fainted. You may now send out your Pokemon!"
Mark and Josh: "Let's go Machamp/Dragonite!"
May: 'A Machamp and a Dragonite?! This isn't what we prepared for!'
Ash: "Relax May. Stick with the plan."
May: 'I trust you Ash." "Come out Beautifly!"
Ash: "Showtime! Charizard!"
Charizard comes out roaring intimidating the opposing Pokemon.

Dawn: "Let's go Ash and May!"

Dawn turns around to see Gary and Gladion behind him.
Dawn: "Oh sure."
Gary: "Ah so Ash went with trusty Charizard huh?"
Gladion: "..."
Dawn: "Yep. They're just about to start. Did you two finish already?"
Gary: "Yep! Actually we finished all the match for today so far. We're opposite sides from Ash on the tournament and we had early matches."
