A/N: You already know the drill ☺️. The Song above is important to the chapter for one of the dances. It's Soft Landing by JP Saxe. Hope you enjoy!

Luna's POV

July 27th, Competition Day (#2)

4:48 pm

"Thanks for dropping this off, I'm starving," I took the delivery bag from Sam and tucked it beneath my arm.

He nodded, not bothering to look up from his phone. "Yeah, well mom left me with no choice."

No surprise there.

I sighed and took a step back.

He finally looked up and stuffed his phone in his back jean pocket. "So I guess I'll see you later tonight then."

I didn't bother with the polite smile. I hadn't spoken to Sam much at all these days. He was rarely home and I was always at the studio. And when we were both home at the same time he was as silent as ever.

I didn't bother asking him what was going on in his life. It wasn't my business.

He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his black curls. I noticed another new flower tattoo on his arm and the return of his bull nose ring. I hadn't seen it in weeks.

"You shouldn't come," I said plainly

"You shouldn't come," I said plainly.

He gave me a funny look, clearly, a bit lost. "W-What do you mean?"

I shrugged. "I know you're only doing it for mom. It's fine though. I literally don't care. Go hang out with your friends." I didn't need him to come as a favor to mom. Plus last time, I nearly messed everything up because of something he said. "I'll talk to her. You're off the hook."

I waved my hand towards the theatre's main doors, gesturing for him to go.

He still looked a bit stunned and I took another step back. "See you at home again."

His jaw ticked and he nodded his head slowly, looking somewhat betrayed. "Right."

Shouldn't he be happy? He did have to sit through a two-and-a-half-hour show and watch me dance when I knew deep down, he hated when I did.

I didn't bother saying anything else and turned to walk away. Moving down the main aisle of the theatre, I made my way to the main stage where all of my friends were rehearsing. Carmen stood in front of the group, speaking loudly over the music playing. Scarlet sat at the edge of the stage, swinging her feet, looking down at the ground.

I stomped up the side stairs and sat down next to her. She smiled and took the bag of food from me. "Your mom is the best."

She pulled the tape off the bag and opened it, pulling out two burritos. Each of them had names on the wrapping: "Luna ;) and Scar".
