Luna's POV

The sound of the overhead door chime rang as we all entered the bookstore.

Being one of my favorite bookstores in New York City, Maybe Happily Ever After was almost like a small library. It had two floors a rooftop deck and shelves everywhere you could see.

Most of the time when I came here I stayed in the store front café and read something while drinking a mug full of a cappuccino.

Plus I loved the place even more since I knew the owners.

Gen's cousin and her husband owned the place. I'd known them as long as I'd known Gen the past two years.

Something about the atmosphere here always felt homey.

Zhu already disappeared between the shelves as she usually did. She actually loved reading, so whenever we all came here together the girl was gone in seconds.

"This place is nice," Jax said from beside me. "I've always passed it on my commute but I've never come in."

"The best part is the roof. It's got such a nice view." Scarlet was already dragging Carmen with her towards the back which would eventually lead upstairs.

There was a back room that contained a children's section and once you went upstairs there was a full library with books and sofas for seating. Go up another flight of stairs and there was the rooftop patio.

The place looked was smaller on the outside than it actually was.

Gen and I both walked up to the main counter, grabbing the attention of the woman standing behind it.

She was brown-skinned with twists falling down her back and wore a long black sundress.

"Hey, Maya," I said with a smile. "How are you?"

I hadn't seen her in about 3 weeks and she looked great.

She beamed at me and laughed. "I'm doing ok, all things considered."

Her voice always had this husky scratch that had never gone away. At first I thought it was a cold, then I realized it was just how she sounded.

"Why are you working in the front? You should be upstairs in your office relaxing." Gen said clearly concerned. "Isn't someone else working today?"
