28. blissful

[ Paris, France, April 7th, 1832 ]

The day had started perfectly, with the sound of birds singing outside of her window, Annette slowly got out of bed and headed to her balcony, opening it, she was immediately hit with a warm breeze on her face, the sun seemed to be shining brighter that day, and everything seemed calmer.

She quickly decided that spending the day outside would be the perfect idea, there was no meeting, nothing she had to attend, all she needed was some company, and she was quickly able to think of someone that she would not mind spending the day with, alone.

Having decided what she wanted to do, Annette got herself ready for the day, putting on her dress and putting her hair up in a low bun before she quickly went downstairs, seeing her brother waiting for her, she quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the door.

As they walked along the streets, Alexandre simply stared at his sister, unable to grasp why she was looking so cheerful and calm, he quickly realized that her mood kept changing constantly, and deciding that it probably had something to do with lady business he decided to just ignore it.

"Hey Alexandre?" Annette asked out of the blue, snapping him out of his daydreams and making the boy look up at her as they walked

"Do you remember that place we went to?" she continued, watching as his brows furrowed and a smile painted itself on his lips.

"That place?" he replied "you're going to have to be a bit more specific Annie"

"Oh you know, the place that Monsieur Hubert took us to, we went there a while back, for a picnic, remember?"

"Yes, yes I remember, but why exactly are you asking?" Alexandre inquired

"Well it's a beautiful day, and I just figured that I could go there and paint" she replied, before quickly adding "by myself"

"What, like right now?" chuckled Alexandre, looking at his sister in curiosity

"Yes, right now" answered Annette quickly "in fact, I think that I might just go buy some paint for myself and then I'll head there"

"Alright then Annette" he answered with a smile "I guess I'll see you at home then"

"No!" she exclaimed quickly, stopping him in his tracks as he had just begun walking away "I mean, I might stop by there later, at the Musain"

"Why?" asked Alexandre, getting more confused by the minute

"I just have to" she stopped for a moment, trying to come up with a response "talk with um- Grantaire! Yes, talk with Grantaire, about something, so, I'll see you there in a while"
