"I KNOW I should be there beside you. I cannot take a day anymore without seeing your angelic face."
The man, in his navy blue polo shirt and faded blue jeans, said as he caressed the side of my cheek and I realized I have been holding my breath for a seemingly quite a long time.
"What did I tell you about using this toothpaste, Altamirano!" Came my mom's angry voice.
Wait!
Mom?
What is she doing inside my dream?
I jolted and tried to focus my attention again to the man in front of me but his image was fading.
"Wait! Where are you going?" I asked in astonishment.
I couldn't make out his face.
I wanted to see who he was.
His touch seemed so real.
I tried to reach for his hand as he started to fade away.
"WAIT!" I screamed and opened my eyes to meet the blazing sun.
I groaned and realized I am dreaming again.
So much for romance!
So much for the man of my dreams!
"It's just a toothpaste, for Pete's sake, Ruby!" I heard Dad yelled back and their footsteps scurried downstairs to the dining hall.
I rolled my eyes and yawned.
It's Saturday.
It is supposed to be my rest day from graduation practices and all.
It's only eight in the morning!
I used to wake up at nine during weekends, ten being the latest since I barely catch up on sleep during school days.
But now, my routine was distracted due to my parents' whimsical arguments over random things.
"We're leaving, Flor!" Mom yelled as I heard her shut the door downstairs and have it double locked.
Since I am an only child and we don't have a helper, that has been their routine every time I am left alone in our house.
They trusted me enough to fend for myself and I am already an adult.
A young adult, I might say.
In just two weeks time, I will be graduating from college.
Also, my birthday is fast approaching.
I smiled as I remembered me and my parents' deal.
I will be working abroad and my aunt - Mom's sister, Aunt Saph (short for Sapphire) - will take me in her home somewhere far from here.
My grin got wider when I glanced at the calendar on my wall.
Fourteen days more!
Before graduation.
And about twenty days before I leave this house!
To chase my dreams!
I'm excited!
