Mark's POV

"Hey man how's it going!"

A large hand slapped my back.

I've been on the police force since I was 18. I'm still 18, but I learned the ropes early on.

I skipped a few grades and received a scholarship, though I was immediately asked to join the force.

Ever since I was little, I had a thing for being able to tell when people were lying.

I guess it became pretty useful.

I became a human lie detector, and I've never failed.

I was sitting in one of the small office spaces, playing Tetris on a high tech computer.

I felt something cover my eyes.

"Guess who?" A sweet voice said from behind me.

"Let me guess, Cinderella?"

"You always cease to amaze me Charming"

She walked up beside me, her silky blond hair wrapped up into a right bun. A few strands falling onto her face.

She was truly beautiful.

Cindy gave me a quick peck on the cheek before sitting on my desk.

Her sparkly blue top sparkled under the ceiling lights.

I met her a few months ago when I was sent to investigate her case.

There had been reports of cries and screams coming from her house.

She was being abused by her stepmother and all 2 of her step-sisters. She was being forced to be their maid.

Cindy was on the verge of dying. Her entire family recklessly beating her.

I remember running in and seeing her. Broken. Her eyes seemed lifeless.

I knew at that moment, I never wanted to see her like that again.

The police led a search while I was healing her.

They found a diary.

There was only one thing written in it. All over the pages. Every single one.

"Someday my prince will come"

Sometimes it would be in a neat cursive writing. And other times it seemed to pop out of her page and scratch at you.

After that, me and Cindy grew close and began to date.

But her family is still a touchy subject, so I make sure I'm extra careful not to bring to up.

My train of thought was broken by a hand on my shoulder.

I turned my chair around.

"You're Mr.Charming, correct?"

I nodded my head at the man in front of me.

"The boss wants to speak to you"

I gave Cindy a cautious look and followed the man.

He led me into a room where the boss sat.

The door shut behind me and I was alone with the boss.

"Um, yes sir"

"Mark. I have a special objective for you. You mustn't tell anyone that isn't extremely close to you"

I nodded in agreement.
