Suddenly there he stood. Those chocolate brown curls are messier than ever, but still so handsome. He would make gorgeous children, with Lily, you reminded yourself. Not knowing what to say, you look at Charles for a little help.
Charles: What are you doing back here?
Charles stepped in front of you while you cleaned up the mess you made while cutting the fruits.
Lando: Can you give us a minute?
His question was aimed at Charles, but still his eyes were on you.
Charles: I don't think so.
Lando: Please, just a minute.
Charles: I said no.
Lando: It's up to you Bella.
Charles: Don't you think you've caused her enough pain?
Lando: I'm not here to cause her any pain.
Charles: Well you never were and yet here we are.
Lando: Bellshina, please, even Francisca heard me out.
It was the nickname that convinced you.
Yn: Give us a minute Charles.
Charles: Seriously?
Yn: Charlie. Not now.
Charles: I'll wait outside.
Charles left the room and Lando took a step towards you.
Yn: Why are you here?
Lando: I am not the one who got Lily pregnant.
Yn: Yeah, right.
Lando: I did a paternity test and these are the results.
He handed you a paper, which read that he indeed wasn't the father. Relief washed through you, after which you felt overwhelmed by guilt. It was quiet for a while before Lando spoke again.
Lando: So, you and Charles are back together again?
Yn: No.
Lando: I know what I saw.
Yn: We've been casual, nothing more.
Lando: You've casually been fucking him?
Yn: Don't be a hypocrite. Until a few weeks ago you were also still casually fucking your ex. Even though you didn't get her pregnant, that's still what happened.
Lando: True.
Suddenly he laughed, which confused you.
Yn: What's so funny.
Now you also had to laugh. It felt weirdly familiar.
Lando: Nothing, just us casually fucking our exes instead of the person whom we love.
Your laugh faded into a slight smile.
Yn: Even though that's true, I can't be with you.
Lando: Why...?
Yn: We've been through too much. Besides, it wouldn't be fair on Charles.
Lando: So instead of choosing happiness for yourself and me, you decide not to hurt Charles?
Yn: He doesn't deserve that.
Lando: I understand.
It surprised you he did, but then again, he has matured a lot since the day you'd met him...
Yn: I still love you, though. Always have, always will.
Lando: And I you, even more than you can imagine.
You give him a sad smile.
Lando: I guess this is goodbye?
Yn: I wish it weren't...
Lando: I know, it's alright...
He turned around and walked through the door.
Lando: I wish you the best, Bellshina.
Yn: And I you, Lando.
After that, he grabbed his bag and left. Not even once looking back. It felt like the ending of an era, and maybe it was...
