Hudson's POV
I'm watching TV when Emma and Georgia walk in with Ella.
"Hey Hudson," Emma says
"Hey, if you guys need this area I can go sit in Lexis room," I say pausing the TV.
"Oh it's no problem," Georgia says "how's Lexi?"
"She'll be okay, she's on a lot of pain meds so she's doing good,"
"She's.. showering?"
"Yep, then we're having dinner with our parents,"
"That's fun,"
I nod and I hear Lex yell from her room
"Huds? Can you come here,"
"I'll be back,"
I walk to her room and she's trying to get a dress on.
"Can you zip up the back?"
"Of course,"
I zip up the back of her dress and kiss the back of her head
"You're beautiful baby,"
"Thank you," she giggles "you need to go to your room to change?"
"Yes, coming with?"
"Of course,"
We go back to the living room and she talks with the girls for a couple minutes
"Babe time to go?" She asks
I nod and we go and I change.
"You wore this on our first date,"
"Did I?"
"It's a nice colour on you," she says fixing the collar .
We go meet my parents in the lobby and hers aren't here yet.
"Of course they aren't here," she sighs "probably dealing with Mia,"
She calls them right as they get off the elevator.
"Moms, what happened to punctuality?" She teases
They laugh and we introduce everyone and start walking to the restaurant.
"Lexi do you have a headache sweetheart?" Cheryl asks
"No, I'm alright,"
"Good,"
"Toni you were a big football player when you were Lexis age right?" My dad asks
"Ya I played for Riverdale and went back to back in Globals,"
"First QB ever," I say
"Don't pump her ego up anymore babe," Lexi laughs
We talk for a bit and then eat.
"This restaurant is phenomenal," my mom says "do you come here often?"
"Whenever we're in the area," Cheryl says "there's one in Brooklyn, one in SAN FRAN, and Miami,"
"We'll have to keep that in mind when we go into Brooklyn,"
"Travel a lot?" Toni asks
"Quite a bit before Hudson was born but we settled in Hawaii after John got a job there,"
"Where'd you travel?"
"All over, Europe, Asia, a little into Africa," my dad says
"We always wanted to travel into Africa," Cheryl says "we went more into South America, Oceania, and we travelled to Europe a lot for T's football,"
"Oceania, where is that?" I ask
"It's the countries around Australia," Lexi says "like New Zealand and Fiji,"
"Have you been there?" I ask her
"RJ brought me to New Zealand when I went through my rugby phase,"
Lex and I decide to go back early and we join a small get together in my room.
"Babe wanna drink?" I ask
She stutters and shakes her head
"Pain meds don't go well with alcohol,"
"Wanna get something else to drink?"
"I'm okay for now,"
I grab a root beer and we sit in the circle of people.
Lexi sits on my lap and I kiss behind her ear.
"Are you feeling okay?" I ask
"More than," she says "just getting a little tired, but I'm okay for now,"
"Truth or dare Topaz?" Jhorry asks
"Truth,"
"How far have you and Hudson gone?"
She looks at me and sighs.
"We decided to take it slow," She says "so we haven't done anything,"
Everyone laughs and I kiss the back of her head
"Coach Topaz might kill me," I laugh
"No, she likes you, I keep telling you this,"
"Could've fooled me," Jhorry laughs "Your moms scare me,"
"MY moms scare everyone," she sighs
We laugh and hangout for a while until she yawns.
"Babes, want me to walk you down?"
She nods and we get up and go to her room.
"Hey, wanna stay with me tonight?" she asks "my moms wouldnt mind,"
"Sure baby,"
She gives me her key since her hand is really shaky and I unlock her door.
She changes and I just take my shirt off and we get in to her bed.
"Babe are you okay?" I ask
She nods and sighs.
"I'm okay,"
"You seemed a little off all night,"
"I'm very close to breaking some of my moms records,"
"And?"
"That means I can't play like I usually do," she sighs "my mom went through so much for those records,"
"I'm sure she'd love for you to break it,"
"I can't do that to her,"
"Are you close to all of them?"
"6,"
"She holds like 14, I think she'd want you to play your hardest and see what happens, I know with the small records i hold- if my son or daughter got a chance to beat them I'd be so happy,"
She nods and sighs
"I forgot my meds, I'll be back,"
"Okay,"
She goes to the bathroom and takes the 3 prescriptions her doctor prescribed. She looks into the room and then closes the door.
I hear rustling and I knock on the door.
"Babe?"
She opens the door and smiles
"Sorry, I'm ready now,"
She goes to turn off the light and I stop her
"What's this?" I ask holding up a baggy
It's full of pills
"Don't worry about it," she says
"Lexi," I say
"I take them some times," she shrugs "don't worry about it,"
I take a better look at it and it's pills that aren't familiar to me.
"Why are they in a bag like this,"
"Because my mom said it was easier to pack," she says "drop it, Hudson. Seriously? Okay?"
"Okay.."
...
The next morning we go down to have breakfast with the teams.
She took 3 pills from that bag today.
She goes up to grab eggs and I go sit next to Toni and Cheryl.
"Hey Hudson,"
"Hey- Lexi and I got into a little bit of a fight last night, nothing major but I'm.. worried,"
"What's up?" Cheryl asks concerned
"Was she on any medications before yesterday? Like antibiotics or anything?"
"No, she wasn't.."
"I saw a bag of pills in her bathroom.. she was hiding them from me," I say "she took one last night and 3 before we came downstairs- plus the ones she was given at the hospital,"
They look concerned and I get my phone out.
"I took a picture of them, in case it's a weird vitamin or something,"
I show them the photo and Toni sighs
"Percocet," Cheryl says "pain meds- that she isn't prescribed,"
"I'm sorry, I was just.."
"No thank you, we need to get ahead of it," Cheryl says
Lexi sits down and sees what's on my phone.
"What do you not understand about leaving it the hell alone," she says "mom I'm fine,"
"Lexi.. you aren't prescribed this medicine, where did you get it?"
"No where," she says getting up "goodbye,"
"Lexi..." I start
"No, stop," she snaps "leave me alone Hudson,"
She leaves and Cheryl follows her.
"Toni.. I'm so sorry," I say "I was scared,"
"I know Hudson," she sighs "I think it might've started before you guys were together, probably Camilla,"
"I never met Cami,"
"She was nice, but trouble," she sighs "more I find out about her, the less I wanted her around my daughter,"
We talk for a couple minutes before she gets a call from Cheryl.
"I'll keep you in the loop- she's stubborn though so she probably won't talk to you for a bit,"
I nod and go sit with Jhorry.
"Topaz mad at you?"
"Big time, but she'll be fine,"
I hope she'll be fine.
