Toni's POV
We land in New York and drive to Riverdale.
Every time Cheryl goes to touch me I flinch. I'm scared. The police are supposed to protect us- and the FBI? They aren't supposed to be prejudice.
I never had to deal with that before, of course sometimes random sweeps on the Southside but I'm a girl with pink hair so they never pulled their guns out.
"Baby are you doing okay?" Cher asks as she pulls into our driveway
"Y-ya I guess,"
We get out and she hugs me.
"T it was just one insane cop, you'll be okay I'll make sure of it," she whispers
"I'm okay C. The gun scared me," I sigh
"We're supposed to meet the boys in half an hour but I can call and cancel," she says
"No I wanna see them,"
"Okay, lets go inside,"
I walk inside and smile. I missed it here, so simple, so quiet.
"Like being home?" Cher asks
"Ya I do," I laugh
She kisses me and I smile.
"Maybe we'll have a good summer,"
"I know we will," I say cupping her face "cause I'll be  with you,"
"Flirt," she laughs kissing me
We decide to walk to Pops and take a few pictures on the way.
She looks concerned and then happy and reads a headline.
"FBI apology after All American, 19 Year Old, Female Quarterback, TONI TOPAZ, Searched and Fiancé Wrongly Questioned at LAX,"
"At least they're apologizing," I sigh
"It's still wrong Tones and it's okay to be angry and scared," she says "this article slanders the FBI completely. Listen: 'this negligent behaviour of the top agency on homesoil shows deep rooted racism still present in our society. They mis identified the witness and interviewed the wrong person, assumed TOPAZ, a well known football player was an immigrant based on no factual evidence and witnesses describe the agent screaming at TOPAZ and threatening to shoot the already traumatized teenager," she says
"I guess you're right," I sigh "I am angry because if I have biological kids they might have to go through the same things, it's scary,"
"I know it is babes, but we'll figure it out and protect them," she says kissing my temple
We go into Pops and greet all the boys.
"Fashionably late as usual girls, glad to see Cali didn't change you too much," Tyler says hugging Cheryl
"Nice to see you Ty," Cheryl says "I missed you,"
"Oh Blossom I missed you too I guess," he laughs
"Hey man," I say doing our handshake
"Topaz, see you're an all American now," he says "way to go,"
"Thanks I missed like half the season so I have no clue how that even happened,"
Georgie comes over and hugs us.
"Topaz looking tan, I see you living your best west coast life," he says "and Cheryl, still using SPF 1000 I see,"
She laughs and lightly shoved him.
"Okay we have a lot to talk about," Ethan says "let's go,"
We all relay the last 10 months in a matter of a few hours and Georgie checks his phone.
"Uh T, Cheryl did you two leave like a major thing out?"
Shit the thing that happened earlier
"Oh uh ya," I sigh "I wasn't going to talk about it but ya the FBI pulled a gun on me and it was terrifying,"
"What'd you do?" Tyler asks
"I asked why he wanted to question Cheryl and he got angry," I sigh "thought I was an immigrant,"
"Sounds like you three didn't escape the craziness,"
"Nope it followed us," Cheryl sighs "T and I broke up for like half a month too,"
"You didn't die?" Ethan asks Cheryl
"No I was fine," I say "sad but fine,"
"Reggie that must've sucked for you,"
"That's the cleanest my dorm was, Toni cleans,"
We all laugh and coach walks in.
"Oh I missed you 6," he laughs
"Hey coach what's up?"
"Well my former qb is now an all American indigenous girl who was held at gunpoint in a airport," he says "and I knew Toni had to be coming back to town when the media started calling,"
"Our best friends are still here?" Reggie asks "how fun,"
"They never leave, and our team made nationals and lost,"
"It's cause you didn't have the dynamic duo," I say high fiving Reggie
"Probably was," he laughs "Topaz what do you want me to say to people asking about the latest incident?"
"Tell them I'm fine and just want to have a relaxing summer,"
"Alrighty, you 5 should come show our freshmen how to play sometime," he says "they need it,"
"We'll be in touch Coach," Ty says
"Don't be strangers- I raised you dumbasses," he says
We all laugh and he heads out.
We decide to all go back to our house and watch movies.
"Tones we gotta figure out bridespeople," Cheryl gasps
"How many do we get?" I ask
"7,"
"Do we even have 14 friends?" I joke
"Let's split them up, we have... Reggie, Pea, Fangs, Ty, George, Ethan, Dylan, Mox, Austen, Will, Elizabeth, Olivia, RJ, Betty and Sky?"
"I thought Sky was the flower girl,"
"Good point, is Rylan coming?" She asks
Rylan is another guy on my team.
"Yep,"
"I like him, let's ask him," she says
"Deal now who gets who?" I ask
"I want Elizabeth, Betty, and Olivia. Maybe Georgie?" She says
"Okay, and I'll have Reggie, Pea, Fangs, and Ty?"
"I wanted Fangs," she complains
"Okay but I get RJ,"
"Okay, what about I get Austen and Mox and you get Will Dylan and Ethan?" She suggests
"Sounds good babygirl," I smile kissing her
