Chapter fifty nine
"Screw prom."
All everyone could talk or think about right now was prom and for Caroline even though she had a loving boyfriend who cared about her and would never do what Jesse did to her last year, but Caroline couldn't handle it, always walking away when anyone talked about it or she just just them out, in which her mother thought buying her a prom dress would change her opinion on it, but it didn't.
Which was why she had brought it to school with her and into the girls bathroom, and was shoving it in the toilet and hitting the flush, but it wouldn't go down as she huffed, bringing her foot up and shoving it in more, and hitting flush, yet it still wouldn't go away, although in the end she was destroying it so that was still something.
Although as she was doing this unknowing to her Rachel had seen her feet in the bathroom and heard her flushing the toilet multiple times "Caroline?" she asked, knocking on the bathroom door, and as she did, Caroline turned unlocking it and as she did, Rachel looked at her with furrowed brows "what are you doing?" she asked her "flushing my prom dress down the toilet. Although, it's not exactly working." Caroline shared, turning around and looking at it, as Rachel's jaw dropped seeing it, Caroline then huffed pulling it out of the toilet and walking out of the bathroom, only to end up throwing it in the trash on her way out.
The next day were getting a announcement over the school's PA system by Sue "good morning, McKinley high. First of all, those of you thoughtful enough to leave maternity gifts outside my office both I and my unborn child thank you..for the lackluster Cracker Barrel meat and cheese medleys and I'm sure that my trash can will find them delicious. Now it's time to announce this year's senior prom court nominee's. Your choices for prom king are..Rick, the stick, Nelson. President Britney S Pierce. That's weird. And also Finn Hudson." she shared.
And when she did, Caroline's eyes went wide remembering how Finn was nominated last year but got kicked out along with Sam because of her and Jesse, making her choice to not go even more prominent "and now on to the category we all really care about..prom queen." Sue shared "Becky for prom queen 2012." Becky said as Sue continued "Missy Gunderson. Santana Lopez. And Quinn Fabray. Congratulations to all our nominees." she told them, as the announcements then ended.
Walking into glee club, Caroline sat down next to everyone else, as Mr Schuester came in along with Britney "okay, a big congrats to all our prom nominees." Mr Schuester told them, as some people clapped "but, hey, listen up. We are all winners. Because Principal Figgins..asked new directions to sing again this year! Come on!" Mr Schuester shared and as everyone cheered, Caroline didn't as she crossed her arms "count me out." she mumbled and when she did, Puck turned to her, realizing the two of them seemed to be having the same opinion on this whole prom thing.
"All right, Britney has an announcement." Mr Schuester then told them as he stepped away "hello my fellow Americans. The theme for this years prom will be..dinosaurs." Britney told them "sheer genius." Santana said "I was inspired by the new girl, Joe who reminds me of a cave women. The refreshments will be berries, meat and rainwater. As you are no doubt aware, the US elections are riddled with corruptions. Therefore to keep the prom elections completely aboveboard. I have appointed Santana and Quinn to count the ballads." Britney shared "what? That makes no sense." Kurt told her.
"Shut it, Richard Simmons. Yes, Quinn's my homegirl, but I don't trust her. And you know she doesn't trust me." Santana told him "we'll keep each other honest." Quinn told them "you know, it's actually not a bad idea." Mercedes told them "and last but not least, all hair gel has been banned from the prom." Britney shared, as Blaine started laughing "right." he told her "I'm actually not going. Hair gel was not invented until almost..thirty million year after the upper Paleolithic Stone Age. And frankly I don't like the way you look. Therefore, anyone who shows up to prom wearing hair gel..will be turned away at the door. I hereby decree this to be the best prom ever." Britney shared "okay, let's start thinking of dinosaur songs." Mr Schuester told them as the bell rang.
Walking down the hallway the next day, Caroline was walking down the hallway as Sam followed behind her "look, I know..I know how you feel about prom all right? But I was wondering if you'd wanna.." he was telling her as Caroline quickly turned to him "no, Sam!" she voiced and when she did, she realized everyone in the hallway was looking at them as she lowered her voice "look, Sam...I..I know you wanna have fun at prom but you will not be going with me. And don't act like you don't know why because you were there for all of it." she shared "yeah, but come on! It's us!" Sam voiced "it's a no, Sam." Caroline told him, turning and walking down the hallway and as she did, she didn't notice Puck standing there watching her.
Then in the choir room later on as they all sat down, Rachel stood in the front "Kurt and Blaine and I are throwing an anti prom party." she shared "what's an anti prom party?" Mercedes asked "it's a party for those of us who maybe feel a little, you know, disenfranchised by the actual prom. And I've got us a hotel room at Lima's best hotel the red rooster express suite, and everyone's invited." Rachel shared "you're supporting this?" Quinn asked Finn "I'm supporting her. And I'll be there as soon as I'm done fulfilling my obligations." Finn shared.
"The mood will be celebratory, the food will be catered, the libations will be plentiful, and the dress code will be creative black tie." Kurt shared "optional, optional, optional. And keeping up with the anti prom theme, everyone is welcome. And unlike the actual prom which ends at 11:00 pm ours goes until the wee hours of the night. It's where the funs at, you guys." Rachel interjected "no thanks Rachel." Caroline told her, collecting her things and standing up and walking out "but..what.." Rachel said as she turned to her "I did this for you!" she voiced.
And when she did, Finn's eyes went wide "oh god." he said, as Caroline stopped and turned around "and you think, that I want you of all people taking pity on me?" she asked her "no, no. It's just..I know how prom was for you last year and then I saw you flushing your prom dress down the toilet the other day in the school bathroom.." Rachel was sharing as Kurt then looked to Caroline and shock "you flushed your prom dress? Me and your mom spent weeks looking for the perfect dress!" he voiced.
"Yeah, well, I don't care! And I sure as hell don't need you Berry telling everyone my business!" Caroline voiced "I didn't.." Rachel was telling her as Caroline scoffed "screw you, Rachel!" she voiced, turning around and walking out.
Sitting in the library, Caroline was doing her homework and as she was, she didn't notice Puck walking up to her, until roses were thrown in front of her "uh, what is this?" she asked, looking up and seeing Puck "this is my proposal for you to come with me to Rachel and Kurt's screw the prom party." Puck told her, making Caroline raised her brows "no, thanks." she told him, looking back down at her homework, but as she did Puck reached his hand out and knocked her book's onto the floor "what the hell, Puckerman!" Caroline voiced "look, Sam might be okay with letting you not go to prom and go there to hang out with the guys or whatever. But Puckerman's not gonna let a girl like you sit home alone while everyone else is out having fun." Puck told her, and he didn't even wait for a response as he turned walking away.
Which is how Caroline on prom night ended up at the hotel with Rachel, Kurt, Blaine, Puck and Becky as Rachel opened the door she then turned the lights on as they all walked in "all right. Let the first annual McKinley high anti prom begin." Rachel shared, yet it was so bland and unexciting as Puck shut the door "oh, look! There's chocolates on the pillows." Kurt pointed out "we got room service." Blaine then mentioned "minibar! Whoo! Nice!" Becky voiced as Caroline leaned towards Puck "couldn't me and you have just gone to a diner or something?" she asked "nah. Don't worry, Puck's got this covered." Puck whispered to her.
As he then looked to everyone "so, what she we do now?" he asked "duh. Play strip poker. I brought condoms." Becky shared, as Caroline turned to Puck grabbing the bag out of his hand and walking away, he followed after "Becky, Blaine and I are gay, remember?" Kurt asked her "never stopped me before." Becky told him "no matter what, it'll be better then prom." Rachel told them.
"Yeah, who wants to be in that smelly old gym anyway?" Kurt asked "proms a suckers paradise." Puck told them "prom sucks! Let's get wasted! Whoo!" Becky voiced as Rachel walked over to her "Becky? Becky, we appreciate your enthusiasm, but will you just keep it down with the shouting?" she asked her "keep your big honking nose out of it, Berry! Oh, snap! Oh, snap!" Becky told her.
"So, I wouldn't mind watching a little tv. Um, maybe some bravo?" Blaine asked as Puck walked over to him "dude, it's a hotel. It's gotta be skinemax." he told him "wow, Puck thanks for inviting me, I'm honestly having so much fun here opposed to if I was sitting at home." Caroline told him, sarcastically as she leaned against the wall "we could put on a fashion show!" Rachel shared as they all looked to her "yeah! Let's go all sound of music..and make some old times couture out of the drapes and sheets." Kurt shared, getting up from the bed and going over to the curtains.
"Too gay!" Becky told him as Puck walked over to Caroline "I second that." he told him as he leaned against the wall right next to her "well, I'd love to show you guys my prom dress. You know, I wouldn't want it to go to a complete waste. It's in my car, I can go get it." Rachel told them, as Caroline huffed "god, this is as bad as the party you threw last year Rachel and at least there I was drunk before it started." she said, sliding down the wall.
And as time went by Caroline was laying on the bed with Blaine and Kurt and as she was, she began to realize how wrong this was, feeling like she was back on the floor of McKinley high crying about a guy who took advantage of her, when meanwhile this time she had the perfect guy who she seemed to keep screwing up with where all he wanted to do was take her to prom and she said no, where now being anywhere but at the dance with him just felt wrong as she quickly sat up "no, no! I can't stay here." she told them, as Kurt furrowed his brows "whoa, what are you doing?" he asked her as Caroline looked down at her black and purple poofy short dress "I'm going to prom and finding my boyfriend!" she voiced, turning and walking to the door.
Heading down the hallway, she passed her brother "whoa, Caroline, where are you going?" he asked her, as Caroline stepped into the elevator as he stepped out "I made a mistake. anti prom really sucks more then actual prom. And I want to go apologize to my boyfriend and hopefully get one dance with him before the end." she told him, and as she did, she went to hit the down button, but Finn stopped the door's from closing "I'll drive you just wait for me downstairs, okay?" he asked her and when he did, Caroline nodded as he stepped back, quickly heading down the hallway, Caroline hit the down button.
Where it wasn't just her and Finn but Rachel, Kurt and Blaine as they all walked in, Caroline followed in behind them, where Caroline began searching for Sam through the crowd of people as what makes you beautiful by one direction started playing, Joe, Rory, Mike, Artie and Sam were on stage as Joe started singing.

Rory then started singing.

Artie then started singing with the new direction boys and as they did, Caroline then stopped, looking to them and when she did, her eyes only landed on one guy, Sam.

Joe then started singing.

Sam then started singing with the new direction boys as they clapped their hands, Rory and Artie spotted Caroline as they pointed her out to Sam in the audience.

And the they stopped as Sam stood in the middle, he looked right at Caroline as he pointed to her, everyone in the audience turned around, parting the ways as they all looked at Caroline as Sam sang.

He then jumped off the stage and began walking toward's her.
"The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed."
And when he did, Caroline smiled as she looked at the ground, which made Sam smile as he made it to her and lifted her head up.
"But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell."
The boys on the stage then sang.
"You don't know."
Caroline then kissed Sam as Joe then sang.

The two then pulled away and started dancing together as the rest of the boys sang.

The two were then dancing the whole night long, as Caroline sighed "look, I know that my apologies are kind of racking up especially since you came back but I really owe you one this time. I let what Jesse did to me take over prom. When in reality it's not supposed to just be about me, it's supposed to be about both of us. And I'm sorry. I'm even more sorry that I decided to with Puckerman to a stupid fake prom, I just was so scared about what was gonna happen tonight after last time." she shared.
And when she did Sam smiled "I accept your apologies. Yet, I also owe you an apology for not paying attention to the signs of you freaking out about prom when I was there for everything that happened last year. In which I was gonna ask you, if you wanted to skip out early and maybe go share a milkshake at a diner and end this night, our way?" he asked her "oh, yes please. I'm starving." Caroline told him, making Sam laugh "so am I. Come on." he told her, linking his arm with her's as the two turned running out of there, laughing.
