Chapter:37

Max's POV.

It was then I met Anna. She was my maid as well as my best friend. She filled the absence of Laura in my life. Time flew quickly. I became pregnant. I was really happy to be a mother and start a family of my own. But that happiness didn't last long. One day when I stepped into my room, I saw Jacob cuddling with one of our maid in our bed. I was heartbroken. I never thought he would cheat on me. He turned to my side when he heard the door open and got out of the bed. He compelled the maid to forget everything and to leave the room. That was when I noticed blood dripping from her neck. I understood that he was feeding on her. She did as she was instructed. As she left, I slapped him on his face with all the rage and sadness. He was angry with me for slapping him. He kicked me on my stomach taking all of his strength. I felt an immense pain inside my stomach. I was five months pregnant then. I understood that the kick affected my baby. I sat down and clenched my stomach in pain. I saw blood oozing out from my body and I realised that my baby was dying.

"Jacob...Our baby..." I forced the words out of my mouth with difficulty.

"Your baby?"he mocked, laughing.

I stared at him in shock. I thought he did it by mistake and he would be sorry for that. But his sudden change in expression was hard enough for me to take in. I understood that he never loved or cared me seriously. He was a good actor. He made me think that his love for me was true. He made me steal my father's wealth so that he could live a luxurious life. He made me practice black magic so that he can gain more power. I realised that I was stupid enough to believe all the lies he told me. I also realised that this was his real face. The kind and loving Jacob was just a mask that he had put on to make me believe all his lies and fall for him. He was a cruel and sadistic monster beneath that mask. He was selfish. All the cared was about him. I was nothing for him but a foolish little girl who fell for his charms. He stood there watching me crying in pain.

"You will pay for this." I spat.

"Really?"he laughed like he knew I was helpless.

I screamed in agony. The pain was beyond I can bear.

"Is it too painful,my love?" he asked grinning.

"Don't talk to me, you bastard." I snapped,weeping.

His expressions changed within a fraction of second from smiling to fury. He bit his hand and shoved it into my mouth.

"Drink"he ordered.

I refused. I knew what it could do. His blood had the power to turn me into another blood sucking monster. He slapped me hard and ordered again. I didn't have a choice. I drank his blood. I could feel the disgusting liquid passing through my throat. After a few minutes, I felt a strong pain in addition to the one I was suffering. I felt a cold atmosphere embracing me. I touched my cheeks and realised that I was ice cold. I coughed and spat blood. I knew I was gonna die. I noticed my vision becoming blurred. Jacob grinned at me and said,

"Goodbye, my love."

Everything went black. When I opened my eyes, I was in a forest.  My senses were improved. I could hear the heart beat of even the tiniest animal. It was creepy. I could hear the hisses of snakes. The crickets were murmuring. Even the owls cooed. Though I was a vampire, the human in me feared the darkness and creepy sounds. I walked to find a way out of there. Suddenly I got a strange feeling. My nostrils were smelling something delicious. I felt a unique sensation in my throat.

Thirst.

I knew that the monster inside me was longing for blood to quench her thirst. I prayed that I should never find a prey. But unfortunately God didn't hear my prayer. My eyes were locked on someone. My legs moved towards that person even though my heart told me to run back. My fangs elongated and the veins under my eyes were bulged. I wooshed beside the person. She turned and  looked into my eyes.

"Laura?" I mumbled returning to my normal self.

"Max?" She asked confused.

"Why are you here?" We both asked in unison.

I could feel my thirst increasing but I suppressed it with every control I had.

Tears flowed down her eyes.

"Max, my mother passed away. I am not able to bear it. I can't sleep. I can't live without her. I need her." She wept.

I hugged her tightly. I knew how much she loved her mother. Tears dripped down my eyes. She was a kind woman. She considered me equal to Laura.

After sometime, I pulled out from the hug and stood up.

"Laura,just go back. My Father will take good care of you."I consoled her.

"I know. But my mother's absence is something I cant bear. I wish I could die and be with her." She wept.

I remained silent.

"Why are you here, Max?" She asked.

I told her entire incident. She stared at me in shock.

"You are a vampire?"she asked unbelieving.

"Yes." I replied.

She came closer to me.

"Take my blood and complete your transformation." She muttered.

"I won't do that, Laura." I retorted.

"You must. Please show mercy to me. I wanna be with my mother."she pleaded.

"I cant do it Laura. You must go back. " I ordered her.

She picked up a stone from the ground and made a cut on her skin with its sharp edge.

"No!!! Laura don't do it please. I can't control myself. I might kill you." I wept begging her.

"Kill me. Take my life. Please."she pleaded.

I lost my control. I bit her hand with every power I had. She screamed in agony. I wanted to stop sucking her blood. But I couldn't control myself. I saw her becoming pale. Soon her heart beat stopped. I screamed heartbroken.

"Laura!!!!! Please forgive me." I burst out into tears.
