Apoligies

"Skye? You awake?" A voice asks quietly. "I am now." I sigh at them. "How are you feeling?" Remus asks, pushing past James and Sirius to look at me with worry in his brown eyes. "Remus?" I blink, raising my head blearily. "And us." Peter tells me quietly, with a gesture to himself, Sirius and James. "Hi guys.." I greet awkwardly, wincing in pain as I push myself into a sitting position. "Your not well." Sirius says firmly. "I've realised." I smile back, trying to soften my sarcasm so I don't sound mean. "That's probably why I'm in the hospital wing." "Probably." He smiles back softly. "Anyway, how do you feel?" Remus repeats. "Surprisingly okay." The four boys share a look between themselves, one I've seen many times. Something wrong. "Guys? What's up?" "Em.." James starts, hesitant. "What is it?" My voice is demanding as I roll my eyes. "Skye.. Your em.. The scar. On your face. It's not going to heal." He informs me gently. "What do you mean, not going to heal?" I ask, wide eyed. "Well, it'll be okay, but.. Madam Pomfrey told us that it's as healed as it's going to get." Remus tells me with a soft voice. My eyes look down, diced on the hands clasped in my lap. I had thought it would heal, it would go away. I had hoped it would. I had thought I wouldn't be left with a big ugly scar down my face. Sighing, I fall back on my pillows, the pain not even bothering me anymore. "Skye, I'm really sorry." Peter tells me shyly. I don't reply. "But we really are! For.. Everything." James says solemnly. "Me too." I sigh. "I honestly over reacted that night Sirius, and I've been regretting not being friends with you ever since." Sirius smiles at me, his stormy eyes lighting up. "The last few months have been.. Honestly boring. Without you four." They smile sadly. "Sure I have Lily, and now Jared and Sam. And the girls, but none of them are immature jackasses like you." I smile jokingly. "Plus, they don't have a werewolf in their company." "So.. Are we friends again?" James asks excitedly. "Ew, James, you make it sound so immature. Tosser." I laugh. "I'll take that as a yes." Remus smiles back at me.

I'm released later that day, as long as I promise to take a potion every night before I go to bed. "It's disgusting!" I tell the boys with wide eyes. They don't believe me, laughing at my pain and hardship. "I'm serious!" I tell James, who had cracked up laughing at the hospital wing and hasn't stopped since. "No, I'm-" "UUGGGHH." Sirius is cut off by our collective group groan at his terrible pun. "I thought we had a deal about those jokes, Padfoot." James tells him. "We did, but you never held up your end of if." Sirius replies. "Wait wait wait, what deal?" I ask them, still smiling. Sirius wraps an arm tightly around my shoulder. "Well, my dearest Skye, while your were off gallivanting with-" "Sirius." Remus warns him. "Sorry, sorry." Sirius clears his throat. "While you were shaming your good name-" "Sirius!" "Sorry! While you were off being a-" "This is your last warning." I tell him, sharing a look with Remus. "While you were in Hogsmeade with Jared, me and James made a deal that I wouldn't make "Sirius" "serious" puns and HE wouldn't.." He trails off suddenly, his eyes wide. It's as if he's just remembered something important, but can't exactly put it into words. "Wouldn't.. Ask Evans out for three weeks." James fills in, looking flustered. "Really?" I raise an eyebrow. "Well, yeah.. But James didn't hold up his end of the deal, so I'm back to making jokes about my name." Sirius smiles. James grumbles and mumbles something under his breath before looking up and spotting Lily, sitting down. She looks even better than usual today, her red hair shining, her skin glowing, with her emerald eyes smiling and laughing. "And I do believe it's time for my to ask her out again. I'll get her this time."
