Chapter 55

Tris Pov

The next day we get told Max wants to see us. I hope we're not in trouble. Why would we be in trouble though me and Tobias haven't done anything bad. He probably just wants to talk about a leaders meeting or something. Tobias knocks on Max office door and he says "come in".

"Tris and Four, my two favorite leaders" max says standing up and giving us hugs.

"Did someone shoot you with peace serum or something" Tobias says

"No, I just have something to tell you guys and I don't know if your going to like it" he says telling us to sit down.

"Okay what is it" I say

"Well 2 factions came to me and told me they need a few dauntless soldiers to stay at there faction for 2 weeks." He says

"And your saying" Tobias says

"You two are my dauntless soldiers" he says

"What no why can't one of the guards for the fences go" I say

"Because they are guarding the fence" he says

"Well what exactly are we fighting" Tobias ask.

"Candor and Amity have teamed up together to fight in a war against abnegation and erudite and factionless. You guys are on the abnegation, erudite, and Factionless team with your friends." he says and I gasp.

"You kidding right" I say

"No" he says

"We have a toddler and a newborn at home" tobias says

"I know you guys have the kids but you are my two best. Why can't you ask one of the newer high ranking initiates" I say

"Because they can't do what you guys can do" he says

"So what if we die, then what. what happens to our kids" I say

"They stay with your parents" he says

"Max dude this is unfair. I know we're the best but why us. We have a family and our friends..." tobias says

"Oh yeah your friends are going with you. I know you guys can't do it for a month by your self so your whole gang said that they would go" he says and I just stand up and walk out the door. Tobias jogs up to me and stands in front of me holding my shoulders. He sees that I'm crying and brings me in a hug.

"So is this what happens you get in to dauntless. Live a few years then start a family and get sent off to war" I say

"Tris you over thinking this" he says

"How. what about shai and Connor" I say

"They stay with your parents all the time. it's just for a month and our friends are going to be there with us" he says and I sigh.

"Fine whatever" I say

"Remember what max said we're the best" he says and I smile. He bends down and pecks my lips. I kiss him and he kisses back. We're interrupted by Max.

"Sorry to disturb your little make our scene but i need you back in my office" he says and I smile and grab Tobias hand and we walk back in.

"Okay, well do it" I say and max smiles

"Thanks guys" he says and we walk out.
