Chapter 92: Making Friends
~Lyrvanna~
Alright, Lyrvanna. It's time to make friends. So far, you spent the semester forcing your siblings to hang out with you out of sympathy and bugging Travis and Zerenity whenever you saw fit.
No more of that.
All of your old friends are either in college or has moved on from you, now it's time to make some new friends. Make some senior year memories.
You're popular now, it should be easy to make friends.
I take a deep breath and walk toward some girls talking by the water fountain. "Hey, look, it's Lyrvanna." One of the girls says.
Come on, Lyrvanna, stay calm. "H-Hi, um, hi. I-I just saw you and I-- Um, I just wanted to k-k-know if..." I gulp hard as they stare at me expectantly. Stay... calm. "I-If..." Suddenly, tears start coming out of my eyes and they stare at me wide-eyed.
"Hey... are you okay? You look sick. Do you need the nurse?" A girl says. I wipe my eyes and shake my head.
"I'll go get you some water." The first girl rushes off.
Oh my, Irene, this is so embarrassing.
~*In The Hallway*~
Okay, Lyrvanna, this is when people talk to you the most, passing you in the halls. Don't mess this up.
I lean against a wall and wait for people to start talking to me. Luckily, it isn't long before someone does. "Hey." A girl waves at me as she passes by.
"Hey, I--" She doesn't stop for me to finish the statement. "Um, nice talking to you too! See ya in the halls."
After that, there's not much interaction between anyone else. That's when I realize it's Monday and people are usually too drained for socializing today.
I start slumping toward my next class.
Okay, that's it. I give up on you, Lyrvanna. Do this on your own.
~*Lunch*~
I work up my nerves and sit down at a table filled with people. "H-Hey! Uh, is this seat taken?"
"Yeah." One of the guys says.
"Oh." I clutch my tray.
I start to get up but he adds, "By you."
I laugh awkwardly. "Ha... oh... right."
"So, what's a 'Little Miss Perfect' like you doing sitting down at our table?" A girl wonders as she pops her bubblegum.
"L-Little Miss... P-Perfect?" I attempt raising an eyebrow. If they knew anything about me, they'd know I am not perfect. Have they not seen me being a clutz in the hallway?
"That's what I said. You may act like you aren't but you are, you stumble around in the halls just so someone can catch you and help you up, you pretend to get bad grades just so some cute guy will come along and help you study, oh, and, you pretend to be so alone though you're surrounded by people who obsess over you. So tell me, how does it feel? Knowing you have everything wrapped around your finger? Knowing that nobody like me just figured you out." She crosses her arms.
"I-- I'm not-- That's not what I--" Oh boy, here come the tears again. "Just forget it! It's not like you'd believe me anyway!" I grab my tray and storm off. Okay, those weren't tears...
~*Meif'wa Class*~
"So, how'd finding friends go?" My brother, Caleb, wonders. The five other siblings of mine that go to this school, Kawaii~Chan, Cassie, Casper, Cathy, and Kiriban, all gather around to hear.
"It-- um, it went great! It was amazing! I was... a total social butterfly. I made a ton of friends." I lie resisting the urge to scratch my arm.
They start to congratulate me and the itching feeling gets even stronger. My right arm starts itching too since I'm starting to feel a little guilty. I decided to try to subtly scratch it under the table, one small scratch only made it itchier.
"Alright! Fine!" I blurt and the itching in my arm calms down a bit but doesn't go away completely. "I'm not a social butterfly, whatsoever. Most of the time, I ran away from people and started crying. I couldn't even get three sentences out!" I lay my head on the table and the itching stops.
They all look around at each other. "We know." They say in unison.
"We saw the fail outside, the fail in the cafeteria, the fail in Magicks, the fail in the hallway... ect." Caleb laughs.
"I'm a failure to society." I sigh.
"No, Lyrvanna~Chan isn't." Kawaii~Chan puts a hand on my back. "Lyrvanna~Chan is just someone who has trouble socially. Do you think if we introduce Lyrvanna~Chan to our friends, you'll have an easier time?"
"But they're your friends, you did the work in becoming friends, not me." I shrug.
"So is it that you want? Do you just not want any help?" Casper wonders.
"You know what..." I sit up and turn to them, "no, I don't want help because I don't need 'friends' specifically. I still talk to the friends that I have on the phone though they're in college. Besides, I'm popular now so I need to focus on the duties that I have."
"What I'm hearing is... you're actually going to give your popularity a shot?" Cassie beams.
"Uh, when you put it like that... I, um, guess?"
"Make me popular!" She basically jumps on me and hugs the life out of me. She hugs me so tight that I literally can't breathe.
<<Look. I have zero ideas.>>
