Chapter 90: Hating The World
~Zane~

"Zane, guess what!" Zerenity squeals. "I know you're still mad at me about the house arrest and the Pinkie Cake thing--"

"You're not even allowed to drive since you keep failing your driver's test. How did you run her over? Why was she even behind the car?" I snap.

"I was moving my car so I could play with her on the driveway and the wind blew her into the wrong spot but--"

"Why were you even touching her?"

"Because you messed with my one of a kind light up cupcake holder. I always clean it after I use it and there was frosting on it. Pink frosting with sprinkles! Playing with Pinkie Cake was payback." I gasp but she continues. "Anyway, since we're no longer on house arrest, I decided to make it up to you by finding you a friend who-- at the moment-- hates the world as much as you do. Mingle."

She walks out of the room and I hear someone straining to get away from her. The person literally tries so hard to not come in the room. "Zerenity, no--" Suddenly, Lyrvanna stumbles into the room. "Why? Just why? When I told you I hated the world, I didn't want you to set up a play date."

"Oh come on, why not? You two both hate the world-- for now-- you should be great friends." Zerenity whines.

"I hate the world and socializing." Lyrvanna rolls her eyes.

"Agreed." I nod.

"See! Look, two social hating people can't be friends, especially if they have nothing in common so... goodbye." Lyrvanna starts the leave but Zerenity pushes her back in the room.

"Just for an hour." She pleads.

"Five seconds."

"Fifty-nine minutes."

"Four seconds."

"You can't go lower!"

"I just did!"

"Please?!"

"Fine!" She groans.

"Zane?" Zerenity turns to me hopefully.

I roll my eyes. "Let's just get this over with."

"Yay!" She cheers. "See you two in an hour!" She skips out of the room leaving Lyrvanna and I in silence. Zerenity opens the door again. "And you two actually have to talk." We both groan as she leaves again.

"This is dumb." We say in unison. "Agreed."

We sit in silence again before Lyrvanna decides to break it. "Uh... do you like anime?"

"I guess, I only watch it when either Zerenity or... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Dove forces me to." I shrug. She just mouths an 'Oh'.

We're back to silence and Lyrvanna breaks it once again. "Do you like music?"

"I don't know anyone who doesn't." Then again, I don't know that many people.

"What's your favorite genre?"

"Alternative... or punk, or rock."

"So emo." She laughs. "I'm kidding, I like those too but adding pop, dubstep, and country to the mix." I just nod. "Wow, I thought I was anti-social... you are literally the worst conversationalist ever."

"Most of the time you just insult people so I guess we're even."

"Even?! Ha! Please! I'm a better conversationalist than you, that's why I'm so popular at school."

"If that's the case then why do you complain about socializing and barely having anyone to talk to but your siblings?" She stares at me shocked. "I have multiple classes with you and you aren't a very quiet talker."

"Hey! ... ...Talking to people is hard."

"You're the one who brought up you being popular, I just don't think it makes any sense."

"It doesn't make sense to me either, why do you think I'm complaining all the time?"

"You seem like you're always complaining about something. I bet you can find three things in this room to complain about." I fold my arms.

"Actually," she does a sass neck roll, "it's more like twenty things, one of which being your face."

"Wow... sick burn, I don't think ice is going to help me with this one."

"Now I see why you have no friends."

"Now I see why even my sister doesn't like talking to you."

She goes quiet. "She doesn't?" She basically whispers. I think I hit a soft spot.

"Well, I mean, I've never heard her say it... I just kind of assumed because I never see you two hang out and--"

"No, you're right. She doesn't like talking to me... because I'm so negative, that's why she stuck me in here with you. Zerenity, the girl who wants to be friends with everyone, doesn't even like me."

"I-I--- I didn't say--"

"Thanks for helping me come to this realization." Before I'm even aware of what's happening, Lyrvanna literally grabs my hand and makes me shake hands with her. "I'm out of here."

She doesn't seem sad about it or anything but she isn't really... smiling anymore. "U-Uh... okay..."

"I'm going out the window so Zerenity doesn't try to stop me. Peace." Lyrvanna opens the window and climbs out. I just blink not knowing what to say.
