Chapter 85: Shopping Spree

~Travis~

I rub my eyes as I sit up. "Zerenity... what are you doing here? Isn't it like... 6 in the morning?"

"You left your window unlocked so I climbed through the window, anyway, we have to go to the mall, like, now." Zerenity rants and drags me out of bed.

"Now? Why?"

"It's Sale Day! Everything is 30% off or higher and we need to get there before the good stuff is gone."

I squint at her. "Isn't the mall closed right now?"

"Yeah but it's a two-hour drive so it'll be opening when we get there." She goes over to my closet. "Mind if I choose your outfit?"

"Well, no--" As soon as the words come out of my mouth she flies through my closet looking for something for me to wear-- "is there a reason we're going to the one that's two hours away? Doesn't Sale Day effect everywhere?"

"That one's my favorite mall." She hands me an outfit. "Can you drive?"

"I'd have to ask my dad if I can take the car."

"Oh, I already asked him."

"Wait, so," I blink at her, "you already asked my dad this morning?"

"Yep. He opened the door for me and I asked him."

"But you came through the window?" I gesture to the open window.

"Yeah, I wanted to be extreme, so I came through the window. Now, come on."

"You're literally not going to take for an answer, are you?"

"No, I won't. Now get changed."

"Well, you're going to have to leave so I can change."

"Oh! Oh, right." She laughs and walks over to the door. "Okay, I'll leave out. I nearly forget. See you in the car." She walks out of the room and I just blink at the clothes. I can't believe I'm getting dragged into this.

~*At The Mall*~

"We'll start at the front of the mall and hit up every shop until we hit the back of the mall." Zerenity stares at a directory.

"Every shop? How much money did you bring?" My eyes widen.

"Everything I have." She grabs my hand and drags me to a shop. "This place is the best place to start, it's 70% off everything."

"But this place is way too expensive to begin with, now it'll just be regular expensive. We should find some place that's originally pretty cheap with a pretty good sale. You could get more for less that way." I yawn as I stick my hands in my pockets.

She gasps. "This is one of the many reasons that you're my best friend!" She hugs me then drags me to another store.

~*After Shopping~

"Do you even have space for everything you just bought?" I wonder as we sit in her room eating pudding.

She finishes building her shoe box fort around us. "No. I think I'm done shopping now."

"Really? You're going to stop just like that?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah, soon enough my parents won't give me an allowance anymore and I kind of don't want them to. When I go to the mall, I'm always like 'I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it'. I didn't earn anything in my closet or around my room. I think I should try to stop splurging while I'm ahead."

"That's probably a good choice. Are you just going to let your allowance pile up until you go to college?"

"I didn't think about that. I don't really want to go into college with a lot of money, I kind of want to struggle. I think I should keep shopping so I won't have a lot of money left."

"That's one option, you could also always ask your parents to stop giving you an allowance now. Though, I think you shouldn't try to struggle. I'm pretty sure that won't be fun." Just thinking about it seems like torture.

"I know it won't be fun but I need to things for myself." She counters.

"After a while, that money will run out."

"But I'll have an unfair advantage."

"Also true."

"So, I've made up my mind. No more shopping and no more allowance. I never liked having money anyway." She shrugs and stuffs pudding in her mouth. She sure seemed like when she goes on shopping sprees.
