Chapter 60: You Like Him, Okay?
~Zerenity~

"Zerenity! Oh my Irene! Zerenity!" Lyrvanna screams and tackles me.

"Ms. Faith!" My teacher shouts.

"So sorry, Sir. I tripped." She blatantly lies. "I just need to borrow Zerenity really quickly, we have an urgent cheer meeting. I have a pass." She holds up a pink piece of paper.

"Yes, I'm aware of the meeting, I just disregarded the entire ordeal. I think all extracurricular activities are a waste of time, learning should be your top priority. Am I wrong, Ms. Faith?"

Lyrvanna sucks her teeth before forcing a smile. "No... sir, I'm sorry to rudely burst into your class like this." She mocks him now, "The cheer coach is requesting, 'Ms. Ro'Maeve', to be there on account of her being the cheer captain and this is an urgent meeting."

"I will deal with you sixth period, Ms. Faith, but for now go on. Ms. Ro'Maeve is top of the class and always gets her work done so I guess it should be fine, isn't that right Ms. Faith?"

Lyrvanna's fake smile gets even bigger. "Yes, sir, it's just splendid. She just has to instruct on how she does it, I truly could use all the help I can get, isn't that right, sir?"

Now Mr. Wilson is fake smiling. "Yes, indeed. I'll write you a pass, Zerenity."

After we get out of the class, Lyrvanna groans loudly. "I can not stand him, he makes me want to die. Sixth period is a complete nightmare."

"He is pretty overboard sometimes." I agree.

"Sometimes?" She laughs. "Anyway, Ms. Roche," she's our cheer coach, "says we may be there all day so get your stuff including cheer stuff."

"All day? Do I have time to go get my work from my other classes?"

"Who cares? They should give you a free pass, just saying."

"A free pass? No way!"

"We don't have time, Zerenity, we need to get your locker."

"Okay..."

"Took you two long enough! We need to practice, the cheer competition is today, remember?" Ms. Roche panics.

"Today?!" Lyrvanna and I exclaim.

"Yes! How could both of my captains forget?!"

"Um, Ms. Roche?" A girl on our squad, Gabrielle, raises her hand.

"Yes?"

"I don't remember you telling us either."

"Are you-- Who here remembers me telling them?" Ms. Roche calls out but no one raises their hand. "For Irene's sake... I'm telling you now, okay? The competition is today! Get to it!" She storms off to her office.

"Um... everyone go and get into your practice clothes then meet back here!" I blow my whistle.

On the way to the competition, I turn to Lyrvanna. "You think everyone will come out to see us?"

She sighs and turns away from the window before her eyes widen. She smiles and says, "Of course! They're our friends, they'd better!"

"What's wrong?" I wonder.

"Huh?!" She jumps back a little.

"What's up? You've been distracted all practice and now you're sighing every five seconds." I point out.
