Chapter 79: Present~Lyrvanna~

I smooth out my fake mustache and knock on the door to Laurance's house. Luckily, he's the one who opens the door. "Hey, Bro," I say with a deep voice.

Laurance snickers. "Hey?"

"So, uh, dude, bro, my man, we need to talk, it's serious business. It's about Lyrvanna, your friend. I'm her older brother, uh, Lyr...tim."

"Lyrtim?" He chuckles.

"Dude, bro, my man, don't laugh at my name like that. Now, are you going to let me in or not?" I keep my deep voice on but clear my throat. This really hurts.

"Sure," he steps aside and lets me into the house, "come on in."

"Sweet. Sweet." I nod walking inside. "Nice place, man, bro, dude."

"Thanks." He shakes his head and leads me to his room. "So, what do we need to talk about?"

"You have to keep this between us, deal?" He nods. "What type of things do you like? Lyrvanna wants to get you a going away present so you won't forget me--her but she doesn't know what to get you. I won't tell her, I just... uh... want to know so I can judge her present giving skills."

"A present? Lyrvanna knows she doesn't have to do that, right?" Laurance raises an eyebrow.

"I don't know what she knows, dude, bro, man, but I'm guessing she just wants to."

"Doesn't she know that I would never forget her though?"

"Well, duh, no one can." My voice slips. "I mean, uh," I clear my throat and make it deep again, "she's pretty aware that no one can forget her. She's just that unforgettable. I still think she wants to do it though."

"There's seriously nothing I can ask her to get me though."

"Oh come on, dude, bro, man, there must be something you want that's under twenty dollars and small enough to fit into your suitcase."

"Nope, nothing."

"Why?" I whine not caring about my voice at the moment.

"Woah, Lyrvanna, is that you?" He jokingly gasps.

"Oh come on, who was I fooling?" I take the mustache off. "I have no clue how to act like a dude."

"True. You were basically acting like yourself, that wasn't the first time that you called me dude, bro, man." He laughs.

"Well sorry, that I'm socially awkward and have the need to say either dude, bro, or man a lot." I shrug. "Now, why don't you want to tell me what you want?"

"Because I don't want anything."

"Why? There must be something. Anything. Come on~!" I whine.

"Nope, nada."

I blink at him but I smile. "Fine, I won't buy you something you want." But I will buy you something anyway, I like spending money when I have it. I don't know how to save. Since he technically doesn't want anything though, I won't be nice and splurge. I'll just buy something at Dollar Tree, they have good stuff there.

I'm such a nice friend.

"Good." He beams.

"So, before I came over, what were you doing?" I flop onto his bed like I own the place. Actually, one day I surprised him by slightly rearranging a few things so, by technicalities, I own the design. And owning the design automatically makes me the owner of the room. I rest my case.

"I had just woke up from a nap, I wasn't doing anything." Laurance shrugs.

"Naps. If only I had the pleasure of experiencing one." I sigh dramatically. "Anyway, get dressed, we're going to the park." I jump up and head toward the door.

"Why?" He whines not budging.

"What do you mean why?" I turn from the door and glare at him.

"Why do we have to go to the park? It's hot outside and there's no air conditioning at the park." He sulks as he stands by the air vent.

"So? I hate the heat as much as the next person, probably more. I'm, like, a cold-blooded demon queen or something. We have to go to the park though because I'm bored and I want to swing." He still doesn't budge. "Dude."

"Dudette."

"Bro."

"Broski."

"Oh my, Irene! Laur!"

"Oh my, Irene! Van!"

I sigh as I give in and sit on the floor. "You are literally the most annoying person I have ever met."

Laurance makes a face like he just tasted something sour. "Have you met yourself?" He teases. "Lyrvanna, this is Lyrvanna. Lyrvanna, meet Lyrvanna."

I look over myself. "Nice to meet you Lyrvanna, I hope to make your annoying acquaintances," I say with a smile before we laugh. "Anyway, you have any video games or anything? I do not want to be bored out of my mind here too."

"Nothing that you'd want to play."

"Laurance! Are you playing dating sim games? Don't worry I've had my fair share of those too, it always turns out bad unless I use cheats but... I still play them."

"Uh, no, I didn't mean dating sims, I meant action games." He looks at me like I'm insane.

"Oh," I whisper as he shakes his head. "Pretend I didn't say what I said, I don't need you thinking that I'm like those people on anime who use it as a way to learn how to talk to people or as romance experience." I laugh awkwardly.

"Nah, we both know you're practicing for when we go out in the future." He winks playfully.

"Dude!" I slap his arm.

"Ow!" He whines sounding like a baby. "I'm telling my mom that you hit me."

"Well-- Well-- I'm telling my mom that you hurt my feelings!" I cross my arms also mimicking a baby voice.

"Nuh uh!"

"Uh huh!"

"No, I didn't!"

"Yes, you did! I said forget I said that but you didn't forget!" I turn away from him with a huff.

"Fine. By the way, dating sims are DUMB!"

I gasp dramatically. "Take that back! Oversized frog!"

He snickers before going back to his normal voice. "You suck at insults."

I keep the baby voice. "Take that back or I'll murder you in your sleep."

"I think it's the violent baby's snack time."

"I think you're right." I nod. "Take me to the sugar!"
