Chapter 80: Early
~Dove~

"Are you seriously going to try to go early?" Dante questions as he throws one of my shirts in my suitcase.

"I'm not going to try, I am going to go early." I swivel around to face him but I'm met with a sight I didn't want to see. "Dante... are you wearing one of my bras?" Dante had my bra on-- over his shirt luckily, but I still want to burn it.

"How do I look?" He strikes a pose.

"Take it off."

"What? No." He refuses. "I look smoking hot." He pushes up the bra up.

"You do NOT! Give it back!" I lunge after him. He screams and dashes to the other side of the room. "I am going to kill you!"

"Gotta catch me first!" He laughs and dashes out of the room. I chase him around the entire house until he dashes into the bathroom and locks the door.

"Oh my, Irene! I will kick this door down!" I shout.

"You'll pay for a new and pay for it to get fixed too." My mom says from behind me. I jump and turn around.

"Is that Mom?!" Dante wonders through the door.

"What'd he do this?" Mom sighs.

I look away. "He stole my bra and put it on."

"You're just jealous I fill out more than you!" He laughs.

"That's not a good thing." Mom laughs while I bang on the door.

"Come out here and fight me!" I snarl.

"Hey! No, no, no, no fighting." She shakes her head. "Dante take the bra off and get out here, now!"

"Okay..." He says as the door opens. I begin trying to strangle him as he screams his head off but Mom holds me back. "So jelly!" His eyes widen. "Oh, and I meant I fill out, with socks in them. Not because of me..."

"Keep telling yourself that..." Mom and I roll our eyes.

"I'm serious!" He pulls socks out of the bra.

"Just give me my bra back so I can burn it!" I demand.

"Good call." Mom nods. "Give her the bra, we'll have a burning ceremony."

"What? It's on my shirt." Dante points as he jiggles the bra around.

"We know..." We say in unison again.

"You two don't know how to appreciate true art." He sighs as he struggles to take it off.

"Oh, for crying out loud!" Mom goes behind him and unbuckles it.

"Phew, I can actually breathe now." He laughs.

"What am I going to do with you? Are you sure you're leaving for college in a couple of weeks?" Mom raises an eyebrow. Before he can say anything, Mom realizes something. "Speaking of leaving, today's really your last day in Phoenix Drop? Do you have to leave early?"

"I'd probably be easier if I do leave earlier, get to know the campus a bit more and set up my dorm," I say before she squeezing me into a hug. "You're cutting off my air circulation."

"You did this to yourself!" She pulls away anyway. "How could you grow up so fast like that?! I remember when you were just starting preschool. You were so excited and scared at the same time that you peed your pants."

"MOM!" I screech as Dante bursts into laughter. "Shut it, Dante!"

"You can't blame me, that's hilarious." He laughs.

"Ooh! And I also remember the first time you and Dante brought a friend home, it was Travis, I think, you literally made a cupcake just to shove it in his face to see if he liked it." Mom reminisces.

"Ha! He was too scared to say he didn't." Dante laughs.

"What? No, he loved it!" I glare at him.

"Mhm, sure he did." He shakes his head.

"Ooh! And then there was the day I let you and Dante go to the park by yourselves--"

"NO!" Dante and I scream.

"Do not mention that unsacred day!" Dante shivers.

"We vowed to never speak of that again, EVER." I remind her.

"Alright, alright." Mom sighs. "I just don't want my baby to leave me."

"I'll be back, it's not like I'll be gone forever." I remind.

"You'll end up moving out after college though."

"Fine, I won't get a job and once I drop out of college, I'll move back in, live in your basement, and never pay rent while eating all your food." I raise an eyebrow.

"You know what... never mind I'll manage. Just don't move too far away, that'll kill me." Mom hugs me one more time. She pulls away and looks at Dante. "When are you leaving?" Her voice barely has emotion. I snicker.

"What? I don't get a 'please don't leave me' hug?" Dante's eyes widen.

"I'm kidding, I still have time before you leave but should I share some of your childhood memories out loud anyway?" Mom questions and Dante instantly shakes his head.

"No! Please don't!"

"How come he gets a choice?!" I snarl.

"Because he isn't leaving today, the day he leaves is the day I torture him." Mom laughs.

"No!" Dante groans.

"Yes," Mom smirks before chuckling. "Dove, do you need help packing?"

"Nah, I'm almost done." I shrug.

"Alright, I guess I'll see you when you come back for graduation?" Mom wonders.

"Yep, I'll be here." This is crazy, I can't believe I'm actually leaving today. I have to though, I can't stand seeing him around anymore, if I don't leave I may do something crazy.

So... college, here I come.

"Dove, the moving truck is here." My dad calls out.

"Oh, okay! Coming!"

After loading the van and a thousand hugs later, I made my way to RedBird University.
