Chapter 73: Banished To The Bathroom
~Lyrvanna~

Okay, Lyrvanna, stop being such an overdramatic baby. It's not that serious honey, it's literally a conversation. Something you two have been doing for years now. What's the big deal? So what, you like each other? It doesn't have to change everything. You and Laurance both know that now isn't the time for anything to happen. Now is the time to embrace your friendship.

Laurance will be leaving in just a couple more months. Lyrvanna, you won't see him for years after that. Do you really want to say goodbye on graduation day knowing you spent your last bit of time running from each other?

Forget what Zerenity said in homeroom earlier, it's not love. Come on, Lyrvanna, you're in high school there's no such thing as love right now. Unless you're talking about food or a show or your favorite band or even a super cute anime shirt you saw at the mall, that's the only type of love you'll find in high school. Zerenity's insane for trying to find where love is hiding in the middle of a classroom.

Be straight with yourself, Lyrvanna. Do you really feel happy with Laurance just being your neighbor and classmate? Because, let's face that the stone cold truth, he's basically your only friend. Everyone else is still your friend but... would you spoon feed them ice cream while your legs are on there lap as you sit on the couch in their living room while their older sister takes pics of you two? No. Don't even lie. No, you wouldn't. You're way too antisocial to do that with anyone else.

Laurance is your best friend. Don't run from it anymore. It doesn't have to be weird if you don't make it weird. Just go talk to him. Tell him you've calmed down. Let him know you aren't ghosting him.

Now, leave this school bathroom and find that playful idiot in the cafeteria.

I really hope you're right Lyrvanna.

I'm always right Lyrvanna.

I take a deep breath and peel myself away from my pep talk mirror in the girl's bathroom. I drag my feet to the cafeteria literally forcing them to move. It isn't long before I spot Laurance since like always people are looking in his general direction.

I take another deep breath and walk over before plopping myself at the table with Laurance and Garroth. "Hey! Room for one more?" I laugh awkwardly.

"Yeah." Laurance stares at me shocked before looking to Garroth who shrugs then back to me. "Always."

"Good." I lay my head on the table and stretch out a little. "Things were getting lonely at my table. So best friend and friend," hopefully Laurance got the message, I look at him and he just presses his lips together avoiding my gaze, what am I doing wrong now? "Anyone have snacks they'd like to share? I don't have a lunch."

Garroth exchanges some silent words with Laurance. I can't read what either of them are saying. "I have some grapes, you can have that." I take a peek at Laurance who's still avoiding looking at me.

"That's okay, I'm fine." I smile at him. "Thanks though. Oh hey, I nearly forgot, I have, um, a test I need to redo." I lie scratching my left arm. "I'll see you guys doing class, I guess." I stand to leave but Laurance grabs my hand and now he looks at me.

Tears sting my eyes as the realization hits that while I was trying he didn't look my way, then, I try to leave to save myself some embarrassment and here he is looking at me and only causing me more embarrassment.

Irene... this is harder than I thought.

I pull my hand out of his. "I really need to go, I can't fail, my mom would murder me. I'll see you in art?" I shrug and walk off.

As I walk I hear whispers throughout the cafeteria and I feel stares on me. The perks of being friends with a popular kid, everyone notices you even if you want to turn around and stab them in the eyes so they'll look at you again. Rip out their vocal cords and make sure they'll never whisper about you again.

But that just me being overdramatic again.

Instead, I look at them like I didn't just hear what they said about me. If I react, it hurts Laurance because his reputation includes the people he hangs out with. And I don't want to be a bad friend.

I can't even cry in front of any of these people.

I'm banished to the bathroom.
