Chapter 1 – A New Beginning

May 14, 2014 4:00am

Today is the day, I’m leaving New Jersey for my new job in Georgia.  When I applied for the job I thought it was a longshot, a real pipe dream.  I figured that I would never get to the interview for the Wardrobe Assistant position, much less the call back for the actual position.  This will be a new beginning for my life and hopefully the opportunity to figure out who I am.

My kids will come down to Georgia once school is out and join me for the summer.  They are excited to go someplace different for summer vacation.  Andrew and I communicate well so I don’t anticipate any problems with him.  He will probably appreciate having the summer off from parenting.

I should make it down to Senioa by about dinnertime tonight.  I have a room for tonight at a Bed & Breakfast and I need to be up early to meet with my new landlord at 8am on Thursday to get my keys.  At noon I have an appointment at the Raleigh Studio Office to sign a non-disclosure contract and fill out all my other employee paperwork.  I don’t start work officially until Monday morning.  In 6 days I will officially be working in wardrobe department on the set of Season 5 of the Walking Dead.

My Mini Van is packed with everything I have and the kid’s summer clothes.  The cabin I’m renting is furnished but I have new mattresses being delivered Thursday Morning.  Hopefully everything will go as planned.  My pick-up truck has already been delivered to Georgia.  I had a friend heading back to Florida dropped it off for me last week.

I give myself a once over in the bathroom mirror.  My 5’10” frame reflects back at me.  I’m obviously not very awake yet, but overall I look pretty darn good.  I have long wavy honey red hair to my waist, green eyes, and I’m curvy, not overweight, just curves in all the right places.  I’m wearing size 8 black skinny jeans & an extra-large Motley Crue tank top (thanks to these DD boobs I’ve been blessed with).  I may be 42 but even this early in the morning without a stitch of make-up on, I can still easily pass for my mid-thirties.  I guess its good genes, but it could also be because I rarely go in the sun without sunscreen.  I’ve learned that the sun doesn’t love Gingers.  Yup, the beach isn’t really my friend, LOL.

I head to my car and after a stop for gas, coffee and cigarettes at the last Wawa Convenience Store I will see in a while, I head south to Georgia.

Good-Bye Jersey!
