LXIX. In The Name of Unity (Part 5)

"Of course!" Yusei added.

Yugi put his hand out and pointed the palm towards the ground. "The bonds we've built over our time together will last forever and nothing will change that."

Everyone put their hands on top of Yugi's. "Right!!"

Yuko removed his hand. "Well.....until we meet again?"

The spirits nodded. "Until then!!"

Yuya bowed and shot into the sky. "Goodbye Yuko! It's been a blast!"

Yuma waved goodbye as he flew towards to the sky. "See ya Yuko!! Keep bringing it to 'em!!"

Jaden soon followed. "Take care!! Never turn your game off!!"

Yusei was next to follow. "So long!! Don't lose hope!!"

Yugi slowly flew up to join the others. "Until next time!! Farewell my friend!!"

Yuko watched as the spirits flew up higher. He gave them a thumbs up and a tear slided down his face. "Bye guys!!! Thanks for everything!!!" He closed his eyes with a slight smile as they vanished in the air. "Until we meet again."

Tammi come onto the roof. "I figured you would be up here. What's up?"

Yuko kept smiling. "Nothing. Just saying goodbye to some friends."

Tammi stood by his side. "Oh really." She said jokingly. "You were amazing out there Yuko. You saved so many lives." Tammi tried to hold Yuko's hand. He allowed them to lock hands, but quickly broke them up.

"Tammi, I can't." He remembered the face terrified look on Tammi face when Yuko was close to killing her and he regretted it. "This thing between us can't happen."

Tammi frowned, but she understood where Yuko was coming from. "Is it because of what you tried to do?"

"I could've hurt you and I don't want you getting hurt. We should just,"

"Stay friends? I'm starting to think so too."

Benta then onto the roof. "Aww look at you two!"

"Shut up Benta!" Yuko said. He and Benta gave each other fist bumps.

Kenji appeared behind Benta. He gave Yuko a friendly smirk which sent Yuko a good message. "Things aren't going to be the same around here."

They all turned to watch the sunset. "Maybe so. I think that things are just going to be a bit more interesting." Yuko looked over at Tammi and then Benta. "I wonder what the future has in store."

"Whatever it is, I just hope I get to have some certain rematches with two certain people." Benta said referring to Yuko and Kenji.

"I can't wait for the city to be rebuilt again." Tammi cheered.

"Yeah," Yuko watched the sunset. It was one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen. It made him embrace the joy of life. "This is going to be the start of a bright new future."

A prison cell's lock was broken. The chains that confined it shattered spontaneously. They dissolved in a golden light and magically vanished.

A man in tattered clothes, who's legs were now free from the shackles that bounded him to the ground, lifted his head. He focused his weak eyes through the dark room cellar and saw the broken lock. His eyes widened and a grin plastered itself on his face. Hope filled his heart.

"Xerus is.......gone......." He slowly stood to his feet while trying to maintain his balance. He rubbed his arms, which were now also free. His body began to feel more and more powerful once he stood up straight. "I'm free! After twenty years, I'm finally free!"

The man stumbled out of the prison cell and walked out of the dungeon he spent so many years locked up in. He soon found his way to the front gates of the castle he just escaped. His silver eyes met the vision of the underworld, the realm Xerus once ruled. The man extended his hand as if was trying to grasp something. He felt nothing. "It's no use. They're all gone." A depressed look invaded his face. "I feared this would happen. I'm the only immortal being left now."

He starred down an abyss. There were lingering souls floating around mindless. They all saw the man and chanted something. "Xa...phor...ia..."

The freed prisoner lifted his head once he heard his name. A hopeful smirk appeared on his face. He clenched his fist and a glowing symbol appeared on the back of his hand. The symbol appeared to be a circle with an X inside of it. The man's body glowed in a golden aura and his silver eyes glowed.

"I need more souls for the Cross of Time."
