“You clicked the picture of Jake and I?” I asked Lucy, who froze while attaching a wire to her laptop.

The others immediately shut up.

“What do you mean?” she said, her eyebrows a bit raised.

Suddenly, her dark eyes and studs on her jacket didn’t make her seem all that intimidating.

“The watermark logo that was at the back of the picture of Jake and I at Starbucks is exactly like the sticker on your laptop cover. You did it, didn’t you?”

She stayed quite for a few seconds and her cheeks grew pink.

“There’s no point denying it, is there? I hate myself for not telling you sooner. I also hate myself for doing this for Wendy. And I hate myself the most for doing this to you- who have stayed by my side all the time.” She said, tears appearing in her eyes.

I grew angry as everybody else gasped and frowned.

“How could you do this to her?” Ashley got up and yelled at Lucy.

“I’m so sorry Angela. I can explain.” She cried.

My fists balled up and I shook with anger.

“Explain.” I whispered.

I took a step forward.

“Explain!” I shouted.

She cowered and began crying.

Unable to take it anymore, I walked out and ran until I reached my house.

I flopped on my bed and cried, while Snow began licking my face.

I pulled him closer and wiped off my tears.

No Angela, I scolded myself, there’s no point wasting your tears over someone who would do this to you.

I shook my head and called the first person I could think of.

Jake.

He picked up on the first ring.

“It was Lucy.” I said.

“Um, what?” his voice instantly soothed me.

“Lucy clicked the picture of us at Starbucks.” I said.

He didn’t say anything for a while.

“Um, who’s Lucy?” he asked and I groaned.

“Lucy is- I mean was one of my best friends.” I said impatiently.

“Is she that redhead?”

“No, that’s May.”

“Then she must be that punk chick.”

“Bingo!” I said and sighed.

“Her eyes always crept me out.”

“Yeah, yeah Jake. But I can’t believe she could do this to me.” I sighed again.

“Maybe, she did it for a reason.”

“No, she probably did it because she always hated me and I was too dumb to see it.”

“Stop it Angela. Don’t blame yourself. You’re not dumb, okay?”

I drew a deep breath.

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Go ahead.” Jake replied almost immediately.

“Am I a person people hate? Wendy hates me, Lucy hates me, and even Ashley mentioned that she didn’t like me when we fought. She said she never meant any of it, but all that she said really stung, Jake. Everybody secretly hates me!” I choked a sob.
