The day that the white invitation flashed across her phone was the most surprising day in her life.

With shock and excitement, Elara packed her bags. When she thought nothing could surprise her more than that, Sammy called with the same news.

And that is when she knew.

"We're crashing a wedding," she slammed the trunk closed. Sam leaned against the car shaking his head. But nothing was changing her mind. "Yes, yes. Who invites their ex to their wedding? To the girl, he picked over you? That is a cry for help," she swung her keys.

Sam sighed, "Elara he moved on. And so did I." It was a lie. Sam pushed Stefan Salvatore down to the deepest parts of his brain and locked the door. But when that message came through it all flooded back.

"Then why are we on our way to this wedding?" She smiled at him holding her door open. Sam stayed quiet with nothing to say to that. "Hmm, like I said. Let's go crash a wedding."

Elara loved Stefan, Caroline, and Sam. And she felt a little bad about planning to crash the big wedding that Caroline had been planning from the first day of junior year but she couldn't deny the truth. And the truth is that Stefan and Sammy are meant to be together.

And it's not fair that they never get to know that because Stefan is doing what he believes he "has" to do. The right thing in his mind.

Stefan has the kindest soul Elara had ever known. He loved everyone despite of how they looked or who they were. But that didn't change the small voice inside of him telling him that he should choose Caroline because it's the manly and right thing for him to do.

That voice belonged to his father.

What kind of friend would she be if she let him believe that?

What kind of friend would she be to let Caroline marry someone who could never truly love her and only her?

So this was the better option.

Halfway back to Mystic Falls, they stopped at a gas station. Sam pumped while Elara sat in the car talking on the phone.

"Tell him to man up. He's not listening to me," Elara leaned towards the window.

"He's crashing a wedding, Ellie. I'd say he's earned the right." Elara rolled her eyes at Rory's voice through the phone. "If you don't believe in their undying love for each other then say that. Don't take his side."

A laugh echoed through the car speakers. "Ease up. Tell me your plan again?"

Elara sighed and explained to Rory her plan for them to wait until the officiator asked for objections and then step out singing "Loved You First" by One Direction.
