ELARA AND HOPE WERE safely under the care of Mary, in her home. The Mikaelson siblings were out doing all of the heavy lifting while she and her children stayed safe where no one could harm them.

Knowing their most targeted members were somewhat safe was much easier for the family.

Elara sat in the rocking chair in the far corner of the room. Her phone was pressed to her ear and her hand was laying on her stomach rubbing up and down.

She hadn't heard from Klaus since she left. She wanted to check-in.

"So you and Hayley successfully saved a bunch of wolves all while working together," she smiled. "Now, hell has frozen over. Everything else good?"

Klaus looked down at the city over his balcony before answering. "Everything is well," he lied. He couldn't tell her, she'd freak out over everything and she didn't need that right now.

"Great, so Hope and I will be home in the morning."

Klaus took in a sharp breath. "Or you two can stay out there for a few days. Get a new scenery, Hope can play with the other children." She can't come home. Not now. Not when their own home isn't safe anymore.

If he could get her out of New Orleans, he would. But he couldn't, not alone.

"What? No. We want to be with you. And Hope has plenty of enjoyment in our house. She's practically surrounded by children." She played with the fabric of her shirt.

Klaus tilted his head back listening to her voice. He could see the smile breaking through her lips from laughing at her own joke. "Sweetheart...please?"

Elara's smile fell from her lips. She dropped her shirt and stopped rocking in the chair. "Something's wrong. You lied. Nik what happened?" She knew something was up. He was lying to her about everything.

"Is Hope awake?"

"She's laying down. What's going on?"

"Can I speak to her?" His voice broke as he turned back into his bedroom.

Elara looked in front of her at the crib where Hope was laying down drinking from her bottle. She sniffed and stood up walking over to the crib.

Hope looked up when she saw her mother and dropped her bottle. "Hi, can Daddy talk to you before you go sleep?" Elara pulled the phone from her ear and put it on speaker.

Hope stayed laying down in her bed. "She can hear you," Elara said.

"Hi, my littlest wolf." He walked into Hope's bedroom looking into her empty room.

Hope raised her hands for the phone. "Dada," she babbled. Elara smiled and nodded.

"Yes, sweetheart, it's me. I miss you." He reached down to grab her fluffy pink blanket. He wanted them both home, but he had no idea how to protect them.
