More Challenging For Some Than Others

Hunter's POV

It turned out some of my wishes for the night hadn't been granted. Beth had in fact been sick in the club toilets so Danielle ordered them a cab early, she was fine though other than a horrendous hangover and vowing to never drink again. Obviously that meant Beth and I had successfully gotten plastered, though she seemed rather remorseful about that decision. And it happened that I had spoken to the newbie but I wasn't sure how to feel about that.
Kim hadn't shot me though which was always a positive to look back on though I think sometimes she seriously considered it.

Leah and I had gotten home and eaten Nana's dinner as I'd promised; it was delicious as usual and somehow tasted even better drunk. Everyone always found my drinking abilities rather astounding as I woke up completely fine, like the night before had been nothing other than a dream.

"Hunter!" Leah shouted from the kitchen, "Nana has made breakfast!"

I sighed, taking one final look in the mirror before I skipped down the stairs, pulling my hoodie over my head as I went. "Morning Nana," I smiled, giving her a kiss on the cheek like I'd been raised to do, Nana had always appreciate it.

"Morning bonita (lovely)," she passed me a coffee.

I sat down next to Leah who was already tucking into her oats, "Don't I get a morning kiss," She pouted, loving to tease me at any and every given opportunity.

I gave Leah a shove, "No actually, you don't."

Nana shook her head at us, not approving of my rather miniscule act of violence, "How was last night girls?"

Our house was like a proper family home, Nana loved hearing about all the latest team events and gossip and we loved telling her some of the details. Nana was always our voice of reason, both Leah and I found ourselves constantly going to her for advice and a rant; she was the best listener I knew and the kindest heart.

"It was good," I nodded, "It's always nice to go out with the girls."

"Beth was sick all night according to Danielle," Leah chuckled, finding the entire thing a massive joke.

Nana looked disgusted as she put her hands over her ears, "I do not want to hear that girls!" She told us, "I want to know about the new girl! Who is she?"

Looking to Leah to explain, I stayed silent as Leah filled Nana in, "Her name is Jill Roord and she's from the Netherlands, she used to play with Bayern Munich."

"So she's good!" Nana smiled. Her football knowledge was rather extensive seeing as she lived with two footballers, with a third as her other grandchild was Alexia.

Leah nodded, "She's really nice as well, I think everyone's going to love Jill. Don't you think Hunter?"

I shrugged, taking a sip of my orange juice, "I don't know, didn't properly meet her."
It was necessarily a lie considering our conversation had been rather limited and I'd not given her an actual chance; I wasn't exactly the best person to pass judgement on the newbie.

"Oh you weren't horrible to her, were you Hunter?" Nana asked disapprovingly.

"No," I assured her, "I just don't really talk to the new players before they've settled in."

Leah started chuckling to herself, "Lisa and Viv said you'd scare her off," she shook her head, slightly comedically but also in disbelief, "So even if you wanted to, I think Jill is off limits."

Nana furrowed her eyebrows, "Why is this?" she didn't seem particularly happy with me. Nana was all about being a welcoming person and inviting people over for dinners so she could know them better, she'd always been the perfect hostess whilst I'd always been towards the other end of the spectrum.
