It tells the story of the moment when aliens people ansd scientists watch an explosion that goes on in Mars. After that incident, aliens invade Earth, and fall in what seem to be cilindrical spaceships, falling in England, start taking over the country and people, so they can destroy everything in their path. The narrator of the story, who doesn't have a name, goes out to save himself and try to survive these events, meeting some other colorful characters in the process.

It's a novel that has become very famous throughout the yers, since I consider that it tells a very interesting and alluring story about something that could happen anytime in real life. Also, I think the nameless narratator tells the story ina fun and descriptive way, which very poetical in a sense.
