CHAPTER 30 FIRST COMPETITION

According to Jun YanZhi's teachings, Wen Jing motionlessly meditated for the entire night until dawn. Not overconfident or worried. A ball of Qi suddenly formed in his Qi sea that was vast like a wave, pushing outwards layer by layer and flooding his insides. Then suddenly it stopped. Wen Jing opened his eyes and felt that his ears heard more clearly, and his vision was sharper. His whole body felt light. He had broken through to another level.

Wen Jing got off the bed in very good health: "Many thanks to shixiong. I've already entered the eleventh level of Qi Refining."

"Very good." Jun YanZhi lightly gazed at him.

He had already changed into a new very common light green outfit. His hair that was as dark as ink was held back with a light green ribbon. It was clearly a very ordinary style of dressing, but yet it gave off a cold and reclusive feeling that made people want to sigh whenever they saw it.

To escape the feeling, Wen Jing said: "Shixiong has a really good temperment......"

The location of the interpeak competition was the plaza in front of Qing Xu main hall. A few months ago they had already finished constructing eight platforms. Four had barriers created with spirit stones.

Out of the one hundred and sixty disciples participating in the competition, the eighty Qi Refining stage disciples and eighty Foundation Building stage disciples each had a separated platform.

Liu QianMo was already waiting there, passing out the tokens in his hands.

The tokens had a number on them. The interpeak competition used a system of drawing lots to decide when they went up.

This method could still be considered fair.

Every session had a time limit of five incense sticks[1]. Those who win within the time of one incense stick would earn five little stones. Those who win within the time of two incense sticks would earn four little stones, and so on. Those who win within the time limit of five incense sticks would only earn one little stone.

If no winner could be determined in the time limit of five incense sticks, both people would receive nothing.

After ten sessions, the first round ends, and rankings would be determined by the number of little stones earned. Those who aren't ranked in the top eighty would be eliminated. The second round would only be composed of those top eighty people.

The second round of the competition was really difficult and harsh.

The leftover eighty people, half Qi Refining and half Foundation Building disciples, can't mix. Qing Xu sword sect had always passed down a rule since cultivator Ku Mu[2] that was still in practice today. Qi Refining disciples had to go through a mixed battle elimination round while Foundation Building disciples rankings were determined by the various peak masters.

The second round of the competition was truly a little unfair.

In the mixed battle elimination round, ten Qi Refining disciples would go up to the same platform to fit. The first four to be kicked off the platform would be eliminated while the six people remaining would each get ten little rocks.

The point of this type of competition is to test one's ability to swiftly find a partner/s to win. These types of skills are very important and useful in the cultivation world, but for the connectionless and Hui Shi peak with very little people, it is very hard. They are also likely to be left out or discriminated against.
