Mom:You guys staying over?

Me:Na-

Omar:Please?

I look to him and sigh before nodding. She smiles and nods.

Mom:It's food in the fridge, so good night my loves.

Me:Goodnight mom love you.

Mom:Love you baby.

I stand up and we go to my room. I slip Omar into the bed, thank my mom for getting him cleaned up for bed. I slip out of my clothes and change into some jogging pants and a hoodie. I walk down the stairs and out the door. I pull the joint from my pocket and light it, I sit on the porch and sigh.

Me:What am I gonna do with my life? What am I doing here?

Man:Looking beautiful giving all us uglies something to live for.

I look up seeing a guy in a uniform, I look him up and down and lean back shaking my head.

Me:Cheesy. What's up?

He grins and walks closer, he's sorta cute but it's definitely not a good time.

Man:Can I get your name?

Me:Amara, you?

Man:Santino. You must be new here.

Me:Nah, I'm not actually, I'm not a freeridge native but I've been here three years now.

Man:How you like it so far?

Me:Problematic as hell.

Santio:Yeah, it can definitely be that... You attend UCal?

Me:Yeah, you went?

Santino:Yeah, for my last year.

Me:Wow, where did you go before?

Santino:University of Chicago. I'm down here for grad school now, but I'm a freeridge native.

Me:Get out! I'm from Chicago, I got accepted full ride but... Yeah.

I don't need to go back to that time.

Santino:Well, what are you going for?

Me:Education of English. You?

Santino:Neuroscience.

Me:Oh so you're smart huh?

He chuckles and grins.

Santino:If you were my teacher I can see why.

I roll my eyes and giggle. Damn I'm not supposed to be doing this.

Me:You're a big flirt for someone who doesn't know me.

Santino:I can't get to know you?

I look down the street before sighing.

Me:I'm sure as a college student how difficult life could be.

Santino:Yeah, and that's how I know you need a distraction.

I hand him my phone and he grins and puts his number in before telling me to hit him up next time I'm free. He walks away and I relight my blunt.

Sad Eyes: Long time no see,Mara.

I look over and grin seeing Carlos, I stand up and he hugs me tightly, I pull away and he leans against the railing as I sit back down.
