Chapter Thirty : in Cold Blood

Start from the beginning

"No! I am not her and I will never make the mistakes she has made! Never say we are the same!"

"But you're acting the same! Hazel, why can't you see that it's her exact behavior that you're emulating?!"

"You don't understand either, then! Stop trying to control my life!"

"Hazel, I'm the oldest, you of all people know I'm only trying to help you! For god's sake, you know you can't mess this up! You have to feel something!"

"I don't! There is no emotional connection between us! There is no attachment! Libby is wrong!"

"Okay, fine! Fine! Then don't do it for me! Hazel, I love you, and I don't want you to hurt yourself or anyone else you'll regret. I'm begging you to stay away from Grace"

"Until when?!"

"Until you both come to an understanding" Megan hugged me, and it took awhile until I responded at all. I didn't like what she was saying, and I didn't hug her back for any other reason than just to shut her up; I did, however, accept her instructions. I would never say it to her face, but I do know that she looks out for me. So I listen to her.

"I hope she can fix you, Zel" Megan let me go and left me alone in the dimly lit office. I sighed and left after the her. I hated it. How she always thought I needed to mended. I am not broken.

"Sorry, Shia. Continue with your interviewing" Megan was passing by the girl in the living room.

"Is anyone else here with you?" I guided the girl into the office.

"Thalia is not far. She can't talk to you, though. She is busy" Shia replied with a sigh. "How do you live in this cold?"

"It's seventy degrees in here" I rolled my eyes.

"Sixty-three" she murmured.

"Here" I grabbed a heavy blanket and have t to her. She regarded me with an questioning look.

"I'm cold blooded. A blanket won't help me warm up"

"I thought you and your circle-"

"Another symbol of Scorpio is a Phoenix. Thalia usually keeps me warm" she replied. "If you're researching her, why don't you know?"

"There is no database for her"

"You're looking in the wrong places. She is the source for every Scorpio, Zodiac Dragon, and Artemis myth there is. Find the common data and you're more than likely to develop a good profile on her" she shrugged. "But you want me to give you her personal history, no?" She stared into me with her emerald green eyes. She was a little off putting, most likely because of her likeness to Alexa. She is a strategic genius with no emotions displayed. The difference lies in the fact that Shia has full range and understanding of her emotions.

"Yes"

"You're going to ask confirmation of her personal details. Yes. I am in a relationship with her. The rumors of Leo are false. The Gemini thought it would be a good joke. Yes she and Pisces have a complicated history together" she rubbed her forearms together. "Can you turn up the heat?"

"No. The N.S. pays for the house and we can't use any more of our budget on heating" Shia sighed and stood lazily. She sat down next to me, practically on top of me, and made herself comfortable. "What are you doing?" I tried to move away but there was no more room in my chair.

"You make your own heat. I don't. I'm just using the available resources" she grumbled in a tired way "I don't like it any more than you do. What other questions do you have?"

"What other information can you give me on her?" I hated how having the adolescent this close to me made me self-conscious. How I noticed every single detail of her face. Her high but not too large cheek bones. Her thin eyebrows. Her pale lips. Her cute nose. Her glossy ebony hair. And worst of all, how it seemed petty in comparison to the level of detail I saw in Grace. Grace who is a strange phenomenon. Strange, how I am forced to see the greatest beauty in the creature I wish gone above all others. How a knife can be enchanting even as it is a tool of bloodshed. How blood itself is such a lovely red, yet always yields loss to the being who's eyes are pleased by it.

"You are gay, aren't you?" Shia mused me out of thought.

"No"

"That wasn't really a question" she chuckled with more energy than before. "Your body is hotter than when I first sat down" she cuddled in closer. My skin prickled from the contact. More like super sensitivity, not the kind of aggravatingly pleasurable sparks from Grace. Just tiny shocks from the uncomfortable, unfamiliar touch of a foreign girl.

"I am straight. Please stay on topic"

"Alright. Thalia can breathe water, use water to communicate, and during her time she has varied levels of control over her element"

"Hazel-why are you two...?" Megan interrupted us.

"I'm cold blooded. I needed her to warm me" Shia responded.

"Thalia is here for Shia" my sister nodded to the Libra.

"Shia" another adolescent came to the doorway. This one also had black hair, and her eyes were as blue as my own. She did look different. She was a lot more beautiful. I'm not saying I am less attractive. She just had a very definite cold beauty, a common she had with Shia.

"Thalia" I bowed my head slightly. I knew better than to question her authority. Irregular as I may be, this woman was a different creation entirely. She had power that I could not hope to match.

"Hazel" she narrowed her eyes at me.

"Calm down, Thalia. I got cold" Shia sighed and removed herself from my body. She reattached herself to Thalia's side and began to siphon off her heat. Thalia didn't seem to mind, and her skin glowed a dim red where Thalia touched her.

"Do you have anything important for my research?" I still kept my head lower. She wasn't as bad as Leo, but Scorpio was still not one of the softer deities. Why I couldn't develop a collection on Capricorn, Virgo, or Cancer was still a mystery to me.

"No" and with that, they left.

**alright this is a filler. But since it took me so long to think of, it is in Hazel's POV. Hope you enjoyed :)
