The next couple of days were pretty eventful. Nova was doing much better than before which was amazing.
Colby and I were still staying at the hospital with Luna but she hasn't been able to see Nova.
It broke my heart because she was really missing her sister.
"Babe, I think we need to go do laundry, we are almost out of onesies to give the nurses for Nova." I said as I looked at the bag full of dirty clothes that we've went through.
"I need to go home and grab something anyways, I can do some laundry while I'm there." Colby said as I looked up at him.
"What do you have to grab?" I asked as he shrugged. "Just something." He said as I squinted at him. "I'm just going to ignore that and nod." I said with a laugh then closed the bag of dirty clothes.
"That's a great plan." Colby said with a wink then came over and kissed my cheek. "I'll be back." He said as I smiled. "I'll be here." I said then walked over to Luna so I could grab her.
"Hi, sweetie. How are you feeling today?" I asked and rocked her back and forth.
I watched as she looked around the room with a small frown on her face. "I know, you miss Nova. I hope you can see her soon." I whispered and kissed her head. "She misses you too, ya know." I said as she looked up at me.
"Yeah. She misses you just as much as you miss her." I said as she blinked at me slowly. "Yeah, I know." I said quietly then sat on the bed. It broke my heart knowing how sad she was.
Luna was usually a bubbly little girl who was so full of life but for the past week or so she's been so distracted and sad.
I just wanted her to be okay.
We cuddled for a little while before someone knocked on the door. I looked up at the door as it opened, revealing one of the nurses. "Hey, is everything okay?" I asked as she nodded.
"Yeah, I think Nova is wanting some visitors." She said as I sighed. "I have to wait until Colby comes back so one of us can watch Luna." I explained as she shook her head.
"I think she wants to see her sister." She said as I smiled. "Can they see each other?" I asked as she nodded. "Yeah, Nova is 99% recovered." She said as I smiled. "Luna! Do you want to go see your sissy?" I asked as she looked around.
"She's not in here, you goofball." I said with a laugh as I caressed her cheek. "I feel like I should wait for Colby. He might want to see the girls reunite." I said as she nodded.
"Okay, I'm gonna try and get Nova to nap, then we can get them back together." The nurse said with a smile.
"Sounds good." I said as she left the room. "You get to see sissy today!" I said with a smile as Luna smiled up at me. "I can't wait to see your reaction." I said and caressed her cheek.
"We should put you down for a nap, too." I said then walked over to the bed so I could get her fed and changed so I could get her to sleep before Colby came back.
Once I was done feeding and changing her, I laid her down in her bed so she could take a nap. "Goodnight, little bug." I said then caressed her cheek before turning towards the bed.
I was pretty tired since I was still having a hard time sleeping. It just felt so wrong to be sleeping when I didn't have my whole family together.
I was doing a little bit better since Colby and I were able to visit Nova but I would still go nights without getting any rest.
I knew it was a ridiculous thing to have happen, but it's how I've always been. I couldn't sleep if there was even an ounce of stress in my life.
It was honestly a horrible trait to have.
I sighed as I laid back in the bed, pulling my sweatshirt over my head. I laid there for a little while with my eyes closed before the door opened and Colby came into the room. "Shit, did I wake you?" Colby asked as I opened my eyes.
"No, I was just resting my eyes." I said as he set the bag down. In his other hand was a big bouquet of flowers. "Aww, are those for me?" I asked as he nodded and handed them to me. "Yeah, you deserve a little pick me up." He said then kissed my cheek. "Thank you." I said and smiled up at him.
"I love you so much." I said then caressed his cheek before bringing the flowers to my nose. "I love you more." He said then kissed me. I smiled against his lips for a second before pulling away.
"I have good news." I said as he grinned. "Oh yeah?" He asked as I nodded. "Nova and Luna get to reunite." I said with a smile as a wide grin formed on his face.
"No shit?" He asked as I nodded. "No shit." I said as he sat next to me on the bed. "I wanted to wait for you." I said as he grinned. "You're so cute." He said then wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close.
"No, the girls are going to be so cute. That's why I wanted you to be here." I said then snuggled into him as he laid back. "Well, thank you." He said then kissed my head.
We laid there and cuddled for a little while before Luna woke up, crying. "Shit." I mumbled as Colby rolled out of bed. "Don't worry, sweetie. Daddy's back." Colby said as he jogged over to the crib.
"What's wrong, honey." Colby said then scooped her into his arms. "Are you excited to see your sister today?" He asked as she cried and hid her face in his chest. "Shhh, it's okay." He said and bounced her as I frowned.
"Is she okay?" I asked and got out of bed. "Yeah, I think she might have had a nightmare." He said as I put my hand on her back, rubbing it gently. "Oh, no." I said with a frown.
"Shhhhh, it's alright." Colby said as he bounced Luna, calming her down. "Ya know what will cheer you up?" I asked as Luna looked up at Colby and I. "Seeing Nova." I said as she looked around the room.
"She's still not here, goofball." I said then pressed the call button. "I can't believe they've been apart for a week already." I said with a sigh as Colby nodded. "Yeah, I just can't wait to get back to normal life." He said as the door opened.
"Ready?" The nurse from before as I nodded. "We're ready." I said as she grinned. "Let's go!" She said then led the way down the hall.
"Are you and Sam planning another trip?" I asked quietly as we made our way down the hallway. "No, we're taking a little bit of a break." Colby said as I nodded. "Good, I didn't want to be needy but I don't want you to leave me any time soon." I said quietly as he grinned.
"Yeah, you need me." He said as I scoffed. "Whatever you think." I said then winked at him. I didn't want to admit to him that I did need him, but I think he already knew.
When we got to Nova's room I could hear her giggling on the other side of the door, causing my heart to flutter.
"She's pretty excited." The nurse said as she opened the door. "We're excited." I said and looked at Luna. "Aren't we?" I asked as she smiled and looked up at Colby.
When we walked into the room Luna's head snapped towards Nova as she cooed loudly. "Yeah! It's sissy!" I said happily as a nurse walked over and laid Nova in my arms. As soon as she was settled into my arms, she looked at Luna, giggling at her.
"They're so happy." I said with a smile as Nova grabbed Luna's foot, waving it happily. "Twins really have a crazy connection." Colby said as I nodded. "Yeah, I didn't believe it until now." I said then kissed Nova's head.
We spent a long time with both of the girls. It was so amazing seeing them interacting with each other again even though they couldn't talk yet.
It just proved how connected they were and how much they loved each other.
We eventually had to leave the room so Nova could get another batch of antibiotics. I hated that she wasn't able to join us upstairs but it made me happy knowing that she was so close to recovering.
I just couldn't wait until we were all able to go home.
