I woke up the next morning in extreme pain. I knew that it was because I ripped my stitches but this pain was almost unbearable.

"Fuuuck." I groaned as I got out of bed. I noticed that Colby wasn't in the room which meant he was probably in the nursery with the girls.

I trudged to the bathroom then went to check how much I was bleeding.

When I looked I could see that the whole pad I was wearing was covered in blood, which meant I would have to go to the doctors. I cleaned myself up then got ready before carefully walking to the nursery.

"Good morning, baby." Colby said as I walked over and kissed me. "Good morning, we have to go to the doctors." I said as he frowned. "What do you mean?" He asked as I scooped Nova into my arms.

"I'm bleeding really bad." I said with a sigh. "Damn, okay. I'll call Amy if you want to get the girls ready." He said as I nodded. "I can do that." I said then looked at Nova.

"Are you gonna come to the doctors with mommy?" I asked then looked at Luna as she laid in her crib. "Hi, cutie!" I said and wiggled my fingers at her as she cooed. "Let's get you girls ready for your day." I said with a smile then scooped Luna into my arms.

I quickly fed the girls, then burped them and got them changed. By the time I was done with that Colby was coming into the room, ready for the day.

"Amy said we can come in now, so are you ready?" Colby asked as he grabbed the two car seats. "Yeah, look at these cuties." I said with a smile and held up the girls. I had put them in matching pink onesies and and grey sweatpants. I also put little pink beanies on them.

"They are so cute, just like you." He said as I rolled my eyes playfully. "Whatever, let's go. My vag hurts." I said then lifted Luna up so I could strap her into her car seat. "Are we going to the grocery store after the appointment?" Colby asked as he strapped Nova into her car seat.

"Yeah, I want to get ice cream." I said then picked up Luna's car seat so we could go downstairs. "We can make that happen." He said as we walked down the stairs. I was in a lot of pain so I was glad I was going to get things checked out.

We got the girls situated in the car then made our way to the doctors office.

When we got there we checked in. Nova and Luna were both sleeping which was good because I was stressed that they were going to be loud.

When we got called back to the room Colby brought both of the girls back since I was in too much pain to lift anything.

"Hey, Violet. Hey, Colby. How are you guys?" Amy asked as Nova started fussing in her car seat. "We're good. Getting used to parenting still, but good." Colby said as he crouched down to comfort Nova.

"Well it looks like you're taking to it pretty well." She said with a smile. "So well that you ripped your stitches." She said as I grinned.

"Yeah, I dove under a table during the earthquake, I wasn't even thinking." I said as she helped me stand so I could pull my sweatpants off.

"That seems like a good reason. Let's take a look though." She said then checked me out. "Okay, not too bad. I'm gonna redo a couple of them. Let's maybe try to rest though." Amy said and winked as I nodded.

"Will do." I said as she got to work. "Hypothetically, how long would we have to wait to take the girls on a road trip?" Colby asked as he sat on the ground, keeping the girls entertained while I got my stitches.

"Oooooo where are you going?" Amy asked with a laugh. "Colorado. We wanted to road trip there. I have to go for work, and Violet used to live there." Colby explained.

"Well...I would definitely wait a couple weeks at least. Your girls are pretty chill so they should be okay." Amy said as I nodded.

"They're chill until it's time for us to sleep." I said with a laugh as she cleaned me up. "You sleep when they sleep." Amy said as I nodded.

"I'm run by my two newborns at this point." I said and sat up. "That's parenting for you." Amy said as I stood up to put my pants back on.

"Thanks for stitching me up, I promise I'll be more careful." I said with a smile as she nodded. "Good, I expect to see pictures from when you go to Colorado." She said then winked at me. "So, you really think it's okay?" I asked as Colby grabbed the girls car seats.

"Yeah, they have their vaccines, and you guys will be driving. If they get sick it will be almost a good thing. Babies need to get sick to build their immune systems, so this will be a good thing I think." She said with a smile.

"I guess you're right." I said as we walked to the waiting area. "I know it's scary going out for the first time but it's gonna be okay. You guys are great parents, I know you'll do it responsibly." Amy said as I nodded.

"We will." I said then looked at Colby. "Won't we?" I asked as he grinned. "Of course we will." He said as we walked into the waiting room.

"Perfect. Call me if you need me, okay? You guys are doing great." Amy said with a smile. "Thank you for everything." I said then waved before turning to leave the room.

"Grocery store?" Colby asked as we walked. "Yeah, I still want ice cream." I said with a grin as the girls fussed. "It's okay, girlies. We're gonna get some ice cream." I said as Colby breathed a laugh. "Yeah, mommy's milk will be colder." He said as I rolled my eyes.

"Don't promise them that." I said with a laugh as we got to the car. We put them in the car then made our way to the store. I knew that Amy was right, we needed to let the girls go out in public, but I was still scared.

I wasn't so afraid of them getting sick, more than I was afraid of the people that walked amongst us. After everything that happened with Peter I didn't trust anyone.

I knew Colby wouldn't let anything happen to the girls but it still scared me knowing that someone could easily take them.

It was something I didn't think would ever go away.

When we got to the grocery store we got the stroller out of the trunk. "Okay, how the fuck do we set this up?" I asked with a laugh. "Watch and learn." Colby said with a laugh then grabbed the stroller and set it up with ease.

"That was hot as hell." I said with a laugh as he winked. "Daddy of the year." He said as I grinned and pulled Nova out of the car. "Okay, pumpkin. Are you ready for your first real outing?" I asked then put her in the stroller.

Colby went to grab Luna as Nova started crying. "I know, honey. It's scary but it's gonna be fun." I said and caressed her cheek gently as Colby laid Luna down in the stroller next to Nova. Once she was settled she also started crying.

"See? They hate it. We should go home." I said with a frown. "They're just a little nervous, they'll be okay, V." Colby said quietly as I nodded. "Okay, but if they hate it then we are stopping." I said as Colby pulled the cover down so they would be covered from the sun.

"You're such a good mom." Colby said as we slowly made our way into the store. The girls were crying anymore so I assumed that they were being rocked to sleep by the bumpiness of the parking lot.

"I'm really trying. You're a great dad." I said quietly as he smiled at me. "I think we make a great team." He said as we walked into the store.

We walked around for a little while, grabbing a couple things. The girls were quiet in their stroller which meant they were probably asleep.

I was so glad that I had Colby to push me out of my comfort zone, especially when it came to the girls. He pushed me in ways that I couldn't describe, and I pushed him too.

It was funny that neither of us had no idea what we were doing but we were making it work.

We really were a great team.
