"I'll be with you again now though." Tomis said through the speaker of the phone. He had just been cut from the Hitmen and signed by the Grande Prairie Storm AJHL where, conveniently, his girlfriend, Taylor, lives.
They haven't seen each other since summer two years ago, since she wasn't able to fly down to BC. To some that may not be long, but they usually only see each other over the summer when Taylor flies down to Conquitlam. So Tomis going to Grande Prairie is a big deal.
"But it's not the WHL. Haven't you always wanted to go to the NHL? This is lessening your chances." She told him while he was driving. He sighed.
"Of course, but this still gives me a chance at the European leagues." He explained to her. She nodded.
Eventually they hung up since Tomis was about to lose service. He's going to be living with Taylor and her family so that he doesn't need to go through the whole billet process. They're really close to the arena as well, so it's quite convenient. About 6 hours later he pulled up to her house and smiled. He ran up to the door and knocked, the sounds of a dog barking inside being heard.
The door opened and Taylor's face was shown. "You made it!" She exclaimed. He wrapped his arms around her tightly and smiled.
"Of course I did." She laughed at his response and helped him bring his things to his room in the basement.
After that, Taylor brought Tomis around the town for a short tour and to the arena where the team was for practice. She works with the team as a photographer and admin, so naturally she knows them all. He was introduced to them all before the couple headed back to the house.
They settled in Tay's room with her 4 year old rottweiler, Chase. After catching up they threw on a Halloween movie, since it was getting to be that time of year. The movie of choice was the first Hocus Pocus. Eventually, after a few hours, the two fell asleep in each others arms for the first time in a long time.
