Fifty-Five

Lia laid on the bed, as Helen ran the wand over her stomach. She couldn't help but smile, as Steve held her hand, and they watched the screen together. The sound of a heartbeat thrummed through the room.

'So, you really want to know?'... Helen smiled at the both of them, and the two nodded... 'A boy. Congratulations..'... Helen grinned at Lia and Steve, seeing both of their eyes sparkle with tears.

She wiped Lias stomach clean, and left them alone for a moment, throughly happy for the pair. After everything they had both been through, they deserved this happiness.

'You ok?'... She asks, reaching up to cup Steve's face. He just nodded into her hand, before placing a gentle kiss to her lips. She couldn't help but giggle. Since the attack at the shower 2 weeks ago, he had been unbelievably gentle with her. She adored him, but missed his passion... 'I'm not fragile Captain. If you don't give me something stronger than that, I have a box of toys in the back of my wardrobe..'

Steve chuckled, dropping his head to her shoulder and shaking it. He didn't want to hurt her, he wanted to protect her. Though, she was the strongest person he knew, and the most powerful. He straightened up, and kissed her harder, hearing her moan.

'Mmm, now there's my Captain..'.. His body twitched, hearing her husky voice, calling him by his title.

'The others will be waiting, and I don't know how long Pepper can hold Tony back either..'... He tells her, taking her hand, and helping her to sit up. She swung her legs to the side, and got to her feet, pulling her shirt down. Steve couldn't help but smile, she had taken to wearing his tshirts everyday as she found them more comfortable.

'We still going with the boys name we picked?'..'.. She asked, putting her hands to his chest, and grinning at him.

He rubbed her upper arms, and smiled at her... 'Absolutely. I think it's a great name. Come on, before they all run in here..'

The two of them snag Helen from her office, and they make their way to the main room, for baby shower 2.0. Lia couldn't help but feel loved, surrounded by an amazing family. They walked into the room, to cheers, and hugs.

'Come on, I've waited long enough. I want to know. I got $100 on a girl..'... Tony says, grinning and winking at Nat, who just shakes her head.

Lia looked up at Steve, and nodded. He cleared his throat and looked around at everyone... 'Anthony James Lucas Rogers..'

Everyone was stunned for a moment, and Lia looked at Tony, giving him a smile. She saw emotions build up in him, before he hurtled forward, shoving Steve out of the way, and wrapping her in a hug. She burst out laughing, rubbing his back.

She looked over at Loki, giving him a nod, seeing his eyes get wet, and he turned away. She reached out to him with her mind.

*You saved our lives Loki, he's named for you too. I know you'll be the best uncle, he could ever want*

He didn't reply, he didn't have to, but Thor clapped his brother on the back, smiling proudly, knowing the name.

Tony let her go, nodding as he patted her shoulder... 'Wow, I think that's the first time I've ever seen you speechless Tony, and I'm not even done with the surprise yet..'

'Don't tell us, you're actually pregnant with twins?'... Clint asks, laughing.

'No. Friday, can you pull it up please..'... She calls out. She waits, letting Tony see the holo display of the document, and she waited for it to click on. It took him a moment, before he spun, hugging her again.

'I know what he did was wrong, and I don't think I'll ever forgive him of it, but you're not alone anymore Tony, I'm a Stark, only because of you. You saved me, supported and gave me my freedom, to live my life. I love you..'... She heard him sniffle, and he quickly let her go, mumbling about needing a minute. He shot out of the room, and she chuckled, shaking her head at Steve.

'I think I broke him..'.. She went to the table with foods, and grabbed the tray that was set aside for her, and sat on a couch...  'Before any of you say anything, I'm pregnant, hungry and hormonal. Think before you speak..'... She bit into a sandwich, watching the team.

Steve walked over to Bucky, seeing him quiet. He nudged him with his shoulder, smiling at his friend... 'She wanted you to know, how important you are to us...'

Bucky didn't dare try to speak, he just nodded, smiling. He gave it a moment, before clearing his throat... 'I uh, I promise to always have your back pal...'

Steve reached across, grabbing two beers off the counter, snapping the lids off. He passed one to Bucky, and they tapped them together... 'Til the end of the line..'

Lia sighed contentedly, as she snuggled into Steve, as he wrapped his arms around her from behind. It had been a long couple of weeks, but it was finally over.

When the attack on the compound happened, they had gathered enough intel, and sent it to Fury. She was thankful for T'Challa, Shuri and the Dora. While Lia and the others dealt with the attack, T'Challa and his Dora had taken down as many other Hydra operatives at the bar, including Pierce.

She wished she could've seen Furys face, knowing he was alive. After taking blood from both Hill and Pierce, they were father and daughter. A result of a one night stand, but he had kept tabs on Hill, making sure she rose through the ranks.

Lia knew that others would probably try to cone for her and their son, but she wasn't worried. She tilted her head, and looked up at Steve, feeling nothing but love and happiness.

'Whats on your mind sweetheart?'... He strokes her hair, as he smiles down at her.

She took a breath, and propped herself up on her elbow... 'I know you want to have our own home, away from all this, and to get married. I love that, I do, but this is out home, this is our family. Someone will always be coming for us, or our son. This is the safest place for us to be, I don't want to move..'

She watched him, reading his reactions... 'There will always be some threat going on, and we will always be needed..'.. She sat up crossing her legs... 'I took a step back from my businesses, and sighed Jacob on as manager. I'm now the silent partner. This is where I want to be, home..'

Steve had wanted to move away and retire, but after the attack, and the whole thing with Hill, he had changed his mind. Lia was right, there would always be a threat, and he would do whatever it takes to protect his family.

Sitting up, he stroked her cheek, and kissed her lightly... 'Its a good thing that I've already spoken to Tony. He's building us out own little apartment, just off from his and Peppers. We'll still be here, but we'll have our own space..'

Lia pulled her top off, and grinned at him... 'I need you Captain, now..'
