HUMSAFAR

You are, and always have been, my Dream – Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

Why Did You Break My Heart?

Why Did We Fall In Love?

Why Did You Go Away, Away, Away, Away?

Dil Mera Churaaya Kyoon

Jab Yeh Dil Todna Hi Tha

Humse Dil Lagaaya Kyoon

Humse Munh Modna Hi Tha

Dil Mera Churaaya Kyoon

Jab Yeh Dil Todna Hi Tha

Humse Dil Lagaaya Kyoon

Humse Munh Modna Hi Tha

Why Did You Break My Heart?

Why Did We Fall In Love?

Why Did You Go Away, Away, Away, Away?

Ho, Dil Ko Dhadakna Tune Sikhaaya

Dil Ko Tadapna Tune Sikhaaya

Aankhon Mein Aansu Chhupe The Kahin

Inko Chhalakna Tune Sikhaaya

Seene Mein Basaaya Kyoon

Dil Se Jab Khelna Hi Tha

Humse Dil Lagaaya Kyoon

Humse Munh Modna Hi Tha

Dil Mera Churaaya Kyoon

Why Did You Break My Heart?

Why Did We Fall In Love?

Why Did You Go Away, Away, Away, Away?

Ho, Milti Thi Nazrein Jab Bhi Nazar Se

Uthte The Shole Jaise Jigar Se

Saanson Se Nikla Jaise Dhuaan Sa

Banta Tha Mujhse Jeete Na Marte

Aag Kyoon Lagaayi Jab

Bujhaaye Dil Chhodna Hi Tha

Humse Dil Lagaaya Kyoon

Humse Munh Modna Hi Tha

Dil Mera Churaaya Kyoon

Jab Yeh Dil Todna Hi Tha

Humse Dil Lagaaya Kyoon

Humse Munh Modna Hi Tha

Why Did You Break My Heart?

Why Did We Fall In Love?

Why Did You Go Away, Away, Away, Away?

It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. Those words were in his mind when Omkara slid open the doors and stepped on to the balcony. Gauri had read those out to him once. She was a book worm always lost in her books and when she found a quote or dialogues that she found interesting or amusing or loved, she would mark it and read it out to him when he got back home. This quote had somehow stuck with him and irony was now he could associate this quote with her. He inhales sharply feeling the cold air. Gauri used to come out here in the mornings, she loved the cold weather and he used to join her here. They used to snuggle and kiss and then make love. They were so in love or at least he thought they were. It's been five years and he had changed but remained the same. He still loved her with a passion that scared him. He loved her so much that he hated himself for it. He hated her for making him love her so much. She had betrayed him and murdered his heart. He chuckles sadly, he wished she had murdered his heart then he wouldn't feel his heart breaking every single time he thought about her. His heart was still alive and beating, but for what he didn't know.

"What is so funny?" he hears Svetlana asking from behind him.

He turns back to find her settled on their bed. He walks back into the room as he stared at her smiling at him lovingly. Svetlana loved him and has been waiting for him for years. He wished that he find it in his heart the wish to love her but he didn't. He couldn't love her or anyone else. He didn't want to. There was only one Omkara Singh Oberoi and there was only one Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi for him. He wondered whether she changed her name now to Gauri Dixit? Or had she gone back to Gauri Kumari Sharma?

"What is it?" Svetlana asks.

Omkara keeps staring at her without a word. Seeing him looking at her angrily, Svetlana finally gets the message and gets up from his bed. The moment she got up from the bed he looks away.

"I need an answer, Om." Svetlana tells him.

"I was just wool gathering." Omkara replies.

"I am not talking about that and you know it." Svetlana tells him angrily.

"My answer is still the same as it was five years ago." Omkara replies. He hears her sharp intake of breath. "And it will never change."

"I have been waiting for you for the last five years." Svetlana furiously tells him.

"I never asked you to." Omkara reminds her.

"I love you." Svetlana tells him helplessly.

"I don't love you." Omkara tells her looking in the eye.

"Why you still love her?" Svetlana asks disgusted.

Omkara ignores her.

"She left you for someone else! She didn't think you were worthy of her love. I am the one who has loved you always, not her." Svetlana cruelly reminds him.

"Leave, Svetlana." Omkara tells her. Svetlana furiously turns to leave when he tells her "And stop coming into my room like this. People will start talking. The servants are already talking. Let me tell you, no matter what is at stake I will never marry you. If your name gets slandered in the mud then it is your doing and not mine. So never expect me to act to save your honor." Omkara warns her angrily. Svetlana furiously leaves slamming the door shut.

Omkara furiously takes a cigarette and lights it. He hears the door opening and looks furiously at it thinking Svetlana had come back but he sees his mother standing there. He doesn't even bother hiding his cigarette. He had started smoking when he was in college but he had always been careful in hiding it from his parents. Gauri knew about this bad habit of his and had been against it. He had decided to give it up for her and was slowly cutting down on the habit. But then she had betrayed him and left him. Now he didn't care who saw him smoking or who got hurt seeing him smoke, he just did what he wanted.

"What is it, Mom?" Omkara asks losing his patience seeing his mother looking sadly at him. He knew why she was here. He also knew it was her who had sent Svetlana to his room a few minutes back to talk to him about marriage. She had been trying to get him to marry Svetlana ever since his divorce was finalized. Svetlana was her friend's daughter.

"Why are you doing this?" Jhanvi asks sadly.

"Doing what?"

"Ruining your life like this? Svetlana is a nice girl and she has been waiting for you since Gauri left you. Please just forget Gauri and marry her. Gauri was nothing but a cheat." Jhanvi begs him.

"Gauri was a cheat, I am not. I vowed she will be the only girl in my life and I'll not go back on my word." Omkara tells her.

"What are you going to get by that?" Jhanvi asks sobbing.

"I never loved her to get anything in return." Omkara tells her.

"Don't you want a family? How long will we be there for you? You need a support, Om."

"I know the pain when the one you love doesn't love you back. And I will never give that pain to anyone."

"You will be alone all your life."

"At least I will be happy." Omkara tells her.

"Remember how you wanted to have babies? Please at least for that marry." Jhanvi begs him.

Omkara in reply walks out into the balcony dismissing her.

Babies.

He had wanted babies. They were trying for a baby. Theirs was an arranged marriage. He remembers how they had slowly fallen in love. They were like chalk and cheese. He was an extrovert while she was a through and through introvert, but they had found their world in each other. They were married for three years when they decided to try for a baby. He remembers how he used to excitedly wait for her to tell him that their baby was on the way but every month he would find her depressed heartbroken sobs that she was not pregnant. He used to console her hiding his pain. Only if he knew the truth. She had been using birth control pills all the while because she didn't want his baby and all the crying was for his benefit. Omkara closes his eyes in pain as he remembered that horrible day.

Gauri, Svetlana, Mom and he were supposed to go for a movie but at the last minute Gauri had changed her mind. So he had gone with Mom and Svetlana and on the way his mother had realized that she had left her specs back at home. He had come back to collect it and decided to check on Gauri on an impulse. That was when he had caught her with another man. He had knocked on the door and when she hadn't opened immediately he had got worried for her safety. He had kept banging till she had opened the door. She looked worried and nervous. Hearing his shouts his mother and Svetlana had come in. Seeing the messed up bed and her worry his mother had realized what was happening had jumped in accusing her. But he was a stupid fool who thought there would be an innocent explanation to it. Then he found the man behind the curtain. A half dressed man. Then accusations and shouts were flying around as he stood there watching his life fall apart.

Finally Gauri had venomously told him how Abhay Dixit was her lover. She was in love with Abhay since her school days but due to family pressure had married him. Then she had been happy with him for a while. Till Abhay had come back in her life and she realized that she still loved Abhay and wanted to be with him. And then she had told him how she had been on pills to avoid getting pregnant as she didn't want to have his baby. She had left home that very day. He had seen her only at the court after that during their divorce proceedings. Even to this day, a part of him refused to believe that his Gauri could cheat him. He smokes as he felt the air around him once again. Suddenly he had the feeling at the pit of his stomach that things were going to change. His misery was going to end.

Omkara was sitting in his office trying to work but his heart was restless. Something was going to happen today. He had a premonition that his life was going to be upside down very soon. Try as he may he couldn't shake off the feeling.

"Sir, someone is here to see you." his secretary says poking her head inside.

"Who?"

"He refuses to give his name. He says you know him." Omkara frowns at the strange man who refused to give his name. He was about to ask her to send him away when his instincts took over screaming at him this had something to do with his premonition. "Send him in." Omkara tells her.

A minute later he hears the door open and looks up then furiously says "YOU!"

"I need to talk to you." Abhay tells him.

"Get out!" Omkara says as he furiously got up and marched towards him.

"Not before I tell you the truth."

"Shut up! Not another word from you else I'll kill you." Omkara says as he pulled his collar started walking towards the door.

"The day you caught me in your bedroom that is the day I met your wife for the first time." Abhay quickly tells him. Having worked out different scenarios in breaking the news to him, he had decided that telling him the truth outright was the best option.

Omkara stops as he turned to look at Abhay. "My wife left me. She thinks that I am having an affair and has left me. She doesn't trust me and I realize that it is God's punishment for me for separating a man from his love. I understand your pain and I want to do the right thing by you." Abhay tells him in urgency.

Omkara watches him not understanding what to do. He remembers Gauri's words about Abhay being her love and here Abhay was telling him that they never knew each other before that day.

Seeing the confusion on Omkara's face, Abhay tells him "Please give me an hour of your time and I'll prove it to you that I had nothing to do with your wife."

Gauri rings on the bell and waits for Abhay to open the door. Abhay opens the door and says smiling, "Thanks for coming, Gauri."

"Why did you call me here?" Gauri asks frowning.

"Why don't you come inside?" Abhay asks her.

Gauri looks at him suspiciously and says "I will wait here outside."

"Please come inside. If you stand there it is going to be weird and will catch people's attention." Abhay tells her reasonably.

Gauri wonders whether she should ask him to go down to the hotel lobby to talk then changes her mind and walks in. When he was about to close the door she tells him, "Leave the door open."

"Okay." Abhay consents as he leaves the door open knowing she would leave otherwise.

"What do you want with me? After all these years how did you even know where to find me?" Gauri asks curiously.

"I have friends in the police. It was easy to track you down." Abhay tells her with a shrug.

"What is it that you wanted to tell me about? Does it have anything to do with Omkara?" Gauri asks her worry evident in her voice.

"No. My wife left me." Abhay tells her.

"Oh!"

"I am all alone." Abhay tells her crying.

"I am sorry for you, Abhay but there is nothing I can do about it." Gauri tells him worriedly.

"You can be with me." Abhay tells her hopefully.

"WHAT NONSENSE?" Gauri asks furiously.

"You left your husband for me, so come to me now." Abhay tells her.

"Have you gone crazy? I don't even know you. And you very well know why I left my husband and don't forget I paid you the money you asked me." Gauri tells him angrily.

"But now we both are alone, let's be together." Abhay tells her.

"I didn't leave my Om to be with anyone else. Whether he is with me or not there is no one more important to me than him." Gauri angrily tells him and starts to walk out when he grabs her shoulders.

"I will not let you leave." Abhay tells her angrily.

Gauri angrily pushes him away. "How dare you touch me? I haven't given anyone the right to touch me other than my husband. I'll kill you if you even think to touch me again."

"Husband? You are a bloody divorcee! You don't have a husband." Abhay reminds her.

"My relation with Om is not something that can be broken by a mere court paper. He was my husband, he is my husband and he will always be my husband."

"Then why are you not with your so-called husband?"

Gauri looks at him in shock as her lower lip trembles.

"Tell me Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi. Divorced but still going by your husband's name."

"I don't have to justify my actions to you." Gauri tells him as she starts to leave.

"Go. I'll just go tell your so-called husband the truth." Abhay tells her.

Gauri turns to furiously look at him, "You won't! I paid you."

"Money is long over."

"I'll pay you again."

"I need to know the reason why you made me act as your lover."

"You know!" Gauri tells him helplessly.

"I didn't. I never knew." Abhay lies shrugging.

"You didn't?" Gauri asks confused.

"No I didn't."

"It doesn't matter. Just tell me your price."

"The reason. That is my price."

"Why are you doing this?" Gauri asks furiously.

"My wife thinks that I am having an affair and she left me. I realize it is my punishment for separating a man from his wife. I am filled with guilt. So I need to know your reason before I act on my urges and tell your husband my side of the story."

"Please don't do that." Gauri begs him.

"The reason?"

"I can never give birth." Gauri whispers as she sobbed falling on the ground.

"Is that enough or do you need more?" Abhay shouts out loud.

Gauri looks at him confused and sees him looking behind her. She dreadfully turns back knowing full well who was standing behind her.

"Om?" she whispers his name as he stood at the door furiously looking at her. Then he angrily marches to her and lifts her up forcefully holding her shoulders. He stared at her for a minute as she cried and then he slapped her. When they were married he had never so much as hurt a hair on her body, he never hurt her when he had caught her with another man, and not even when they were getting a divorce.

"How could you do this, Gauri? Such a big lie? How could you do this to us, Gauri?" Omkara asks her furiously as tears fell from his eyes.

"I can never give you a baby." Gauri tells as she cried. "The doctor told me that I could never give birth." Gauri tells him.

"So you decided to leave me? Didn't even for once think how I will go on without you?"

"You wanted a baby so badly."

"So you thought you will leave me and I would marry the next girl who came my way? And have a baby with her?"

"I hoped you would." Gauri sadly replies.

Omkara angrily pushes her away and turns around as he tried to control his temper. He still couldn't believe the truth even though in heart of his hearts he knew she would never hurt him. Turning around he asks her furiously, "Didn't you ever understand, Gauri? That I didn't want just a baby; I wanted to have a baby with you."

"And I can never give you a baby." Gauri whispers in tears. "I am a curse on you. I will snatch all your happiness away." Gauri says in a heartbroken voice.

Omkara turns to her in shock and says "Let me tell you something Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi. Ever since you left me I have never known what happiness is, I forgot what peace was and I didn't live the last five years, I died the last five years!"

Gauri looks at him shocked as what he told her sunk in and realize what she had done. Then she throws herself at him and hugged him tight as she broke down in tears "I am sorry, Om. I am sorry. I thought I was doing it for you. I am sorry."

Omkara without a word hugs her back. After wandering for five years finally he felt at home.

Abhay sighs as he watched them hug each other. It was time for him to leave. "Before I leave, I just wanted to update you on something else."

"What?" Omkara asks as he breaks the hug but still held Gauri in his hand.

"I don't know your wife so I don't know if she will ever tell you." Abhay tells him and Omkara feels Gauri stiffening in his arms.

"He knows everything." Gauri tells Abhay to stop him from saying further.

"I don't think I know everything." Omkara tells in a chilling voice that Gauri was trying to hide something else from him.

"Om..."

"Keep quiet." Omkara tells her and turns to Abhay.

"Svetlana is the one who introduced.." Abhay starts and Omkara cuts him off, "Svetlana knows the truth?"

"She does. I used to be a small time actor in my town and that was how she had found me." Abhay tells him.

"Svetlana found Abhay for you?" Omkara asks Gauri shocked.

"Yes." Gauri quickly replies and turns to Abhay, "Thanks for helping us but now please leave we need some privacy."

Abhay turns to Omkara and continues as if Gauri hadn't asked him to leave. "Not for your wife. For your mother."

Omkara stood there rooted as what he had said sunk in. His mother and Svetlana were involved? He remembers all these years how they had called Gauri a cheat and tried to get him to marry Svetlana, they both had mercilessly slandered Gauri's character every chance they got in spite of knowing that she was nothing but pure. Omkara didn't know who he was more furious at Gauri for her lie or his mother for her involvement in the deception.

"Few minutes back she said something about she being a curse on you and she snatching your happiness, I have heard that before the only difference instead of your wife it was your mother who had said that. From what I had gathered, from the beginning it was your mother's and Svetlana's plan. Your wife was just following their instructions." Abhay tells him.

Gauri turns to look at Omkara and sees his face filled with hurt. Gauri cups his face and says, "We were looking out for your happiness, Om. She just wanted you to be happy."

"By snatching away the one thing that made my life worth living?" Omkara asks furiously.

"Svetlana called me a few days ago and asked me to forge a photograph of Gauri and me with a baby. Don't know for what but that is when I realized that I should tell you the truth." Abhay tells them.

"To show me. To show me that Gauri has moved on in life and I should do the same." Omkara tells him thoughtfully.

"Could be. Anyway my work here is done. Take the road to the left and go till the end till you find a temple. I have made arrangements for your remarriage. If that is what you want."

Omkara nods. "I am going to see my wife, maybe this time she will listen to me and give me a chance to explain." Abhay says as if in prayer and starts to walk out.

"If there is anything we can do for you don't hesitate to tell us." Omkara tells him.

Abhay nods.

"Thank you." Omkara tells him.

Abhay gives him a sad smile and starts to walk out and turns, "I forgot. Here." He takes out a mangalsutr and offers to them. "You would need that if you decide to get married." Abhay explains.

"We don't need that." Gauri tells him and looks at Omkara sees him looking at her furiously. "If you are willing to forgive me and take me back then I already have mine." Gauri tells him as she pulled out her mangalsutra from around her neck.

Realizing that she had still worn her mangalsutra and noticing the sindoor on her head had to mean only one thing. Like she had said, she still considered him her husband. They hear the door closing softly behind and turn to see that Abhay had quietly left.

"How could you even think of leaving me? Was it so easy for you?" Omkara asks her hurt.

"When I didn't get pregnant I went to a doctor to find out if there was any problem with me. When she told me that I can never give birth i..." Gauri bursts into tears and Omkara hugs her.

He remembers how she used to get depressed every time she realized that she was not pregnant and finding out something like that, he couldn't even imagine what she might have gone through without him by her side.

"I was going to tell you but mummyji stopped me. she told me how you wanted a baby and how everyone in the family wanted a baby. And I realized that I was in the way of all your happiness and decided to leave. I knew you wouldn't let me go if you knew the truth that is why I lied. Every day I cursed myself for leaving you and would think of calling you but then I would remember how I can never give you happiness and I stop myself."

"Stop it, Gauri! Without you by my side I never knew what happiness was."

"Please take me back, Om. I can't live without you anymore." Gauri begs him.

Hours later Omkara and Gauri walks into his house. "What is she doing here?" Tej asks angrily as he sees Gauri with Omkara. Jhanvi turns to see who it was and gets shocked seeing Gauri with Omkara.

"Gauri? What are you doing here?" Jhanvi asks furiously as fear gripped her heart.

"Where else should my wife be, Mom?" Omkara asks her.

"Wife? Did you forget that you both got divorced?" Tej asks.

"And got married again." Omkara tells him.

"Married? To her? Why, Om? Did you forget what you went through because of her?" Tej asks furiously as tears stung his eyes remembering his son's condition for the last five years.

"Did you forget that she betrayed you?" Jhanvi asks angrily as she marched towards them.

"No I didn't. She did betray me. But more than her betrayal do you know whose betrayal hurt me the most?" Omkara furiously asks her.

Realizing that he found out the truth Jhanvi panics. "I don't know what poison she has filled your heart with. Whatever it is, it is a lie. I'll not spare her." Jhanvi shouts angrily and raises her hand to slap Gauri when Omkara holds her hand.

"Don't. Ever. Hurt. My. Wife. If you do then it won't be your son standing in front of you. You will have to face Gauri's husband."

"Is that the way to talk to your mother?" Tej asks furiously. "You are talking to her like this for this girl? Who ruined not only yours but all of our lives?" Tej asks hurt.

"Is she a mother? Is this what a mother does to her son?" Omkara asks his father.

"What did she do?" Tej asks.

Omkara feels Gauri holding his hand but he ignores her and turns to his mother, "Just because Gauri didn't tell me explicitly that it was you who brainwashed her to do all that, I know. I know my wife and the extend of her love for me. It is true I got blinded by all your deception but not anymore. You misused her love for me to make her think that she is a curse on me."

"What are you saying?" Tej asks confused.

"Gauri can never have babies. Mom found out about it and made her do all this drama so that I would divorce Gauri and marry Svetlana. Then have a baby with Svetlana and give her a grandchild." Omkara says in disgust.

"Is that true?" Tej asks Jhanvi in shock.

"She is barren. She is no good for my son. She is a curse on him and our family." Jhanvi angrily says.

Tej slaps Jhanvi before Omkara had a chance to react to the insult on his wife. Omkara feels Gauri gripping his hand and turns to look at her to find her silently crying with her eyes squeezed shut.

"Marriage is not a game! It is a sacred bond!" Tej angrily tells his wife.

"She can never give him a baby. Give us an heir." Jhanvi says crying.

"Did you forget you have another son to give you an heir?" Omkara asks her angrily.

"What if it was Om who had problems? Would you have considered him a curse on Gauri and us? Would you have forced him to leave Gauri?" Tej furiously asks her. "Suddenly I feel I don't even know you. You were selfish but never cruel, and now?" Tej asks hurt. "Why didn't you ever tell the truth in these last five years? Didn't Om's pain mean anything to you? Was Om's child so important to you than Om himself?" Tej asks hurt. "Medical science is so advanced now, Jhanvi. And if that was not enough then there are millions of children in this world without anyone to love them. Om and Gauri could give a child a home and love."

"That won't be our blood." Jhanvi angrily tells him.

"You disgust me, Jhanvi!" Tej tells her. Then he walks towards Gauri and cups her face, "Don't be sad, Gauri. If God has decided to not give you a baby maybe it is because he has planned something bigger for you. Never think otherwise." Then turning to Omkara he says, "Take her to your room."

4 years later

"Get off my back, Shlok!" Omkara says helplessly as his son jumped on his back started hitting him.

"No! I am fighting you." Shlok tells him.

"I can't fight you back if you are on my back!" Omkara tells as he tried to get his son of his back.

"Read, Papa." Varya tells him as she nudged him.

Omkara looks at his daughter helplessly as she thrust the book on to his face ignoring the fact that he was trying to get his son off his back. "Give me a minute, Varya!"

"You are always telling me to wait! You are always playing with Shlok and not with me!" Varya complains sadly.

"Didn't I just play tea party with you for an hour?" Omkara asks shocked.

"That was in the evening. Now read!" she says as she thrust the book to his face again.

"Shlok please stop! I will read to you both." Omkara begs as Shlok started punching him on his back with both fist and legs.

"No, I want to fight!" Shlok says.

He wondered how these two never got tired. They were so full of energy the whole day. He just wanted some quiet time and sleep.

"Read!"

"Fight!" they kept screaming and finally fed up he screams "GAURIIII!"

"Coming!" she screams back.

"She is cleaning kitchen." Varya tells him as she pointed at Cindrella story for him to read. "Read this one!"

"GAURIIII! I need help!"

Gauri walks in to find Omkara on his knees on the bed with Shlok on top of him fighting him while Varya was trying to shove her story book on his face. Gauri smiles seeing her family. She remembers how close she was in losing them. She thanked her stars for giving her a second chance. They were happy with their life. The only pain was that Mummyji still hasn't accepted her or their kids. Omkara and she had adopted Shlok and Varya, newborn twins abandoned at the hospital soon after their remarriage. Though everyone in the family loved their babies mummyji still didn't accept them as her grandchildren. But she had managed to hide it from Om for three years. Then Rudra's son Vedant was born and soon Varya and Shlok started noticing the difference in the way they were treated by their dadi. And one day they had innocently mentioned to Om about how this was not their house but Vedant's, something their dadi always mentioned to them. The next day, they had moved out. They never visited his house but Daddyji, Rudra, his wife and Vedant were constant visitors at their place.

Om never talked about his mother. She knew it pained him to see her indifference to their babies and her, and was angry with her for that but she was still his mother and he still loved her. She had tried to mend the difference but then both of them had asked her to stay out of it. She wondered and prayed every day that they forget their differences and get back together like a family.

"What are you staring at? Help me!" Omkara tells her shocked seeing her standing there simply.

"Shlok, enough, time for bed. Get down." Gauri tells him in a stern voice and Shlok quickly gets down and runs to her happily.

"Mama ka chamcha!" Omkara mutters irritated that he always listened to her quickly.

"Papa." Varya calls him.

"Come sweetheart, I'll read for you." Omkara says smiling at Varya as he took her in his arms and walked towards her room.

"You are Papa's princess."

"I know. Your favorite." Varya tells him in secret.

"That is right. My favorite." Omkara says as he kissed her.

"Cinderella!" Varya screams.

"Little Red Riding Hood!" Shlok screams.

Omkara closes his eyes as he tried to shut out their screams.

"You read her Cinderella. I'll read him Red Riding Hood." Gauri tells him smiling.

"Thank you. This is why I love you so much." Gauri gets on the bed pushing Shlok inside.

"I want to lie on the end!" Shlok says frowning.

"Fine!" Gauri says and gets inside.

"Then even I want to lie on the end." Varya tells Omkara.

"Okay." Omkara says willing to do anything so he could just finish reading the story and go to his bedroom and sleep.

Finally they were settled on the bed with Shlok on one end, then Gauri, then Omkara and Varya on the other end. Omkara and Gauri starts reading the story. Gauri sleeps off by the time she gets to the second page due to tiredness of her busy day and Omkara had lasted four pages before he also slept off.

"They slept!" Varya whispers as she looked at her parents.

"Yeah! Come let's go play." Shlok tells her.

"Okay let's go." Varya agrees and they both silently leave so as not to wake their parents.

Shlok runs out of the room and Varya was about to leave when she turns to look at her parents sees that her father was waking up. He slightly opens his eyes and looks around seeing them missing. Then he sees her at the door. She quickly signals him not to wake up Gauri. Omkara smiles and gives her thumbs up. She gives him a flying kiss and goes off to play. Omkara smiles. Gauri and he had decided that he would be the lenient parent while she would be the strict parent. He turns to look at Gauri and sees her sleeping peacefully. She had her hands full with their naughty kids and him, but she was managing it beautifully. Life was good and perfect. Life was how he had wanted it to be. He snuggles her as he went back to sleep.
