Nathans POV
After a few more minutes I put her back down and let her go only to be pulled back into a deep embrace. When she let me go I saw the smile that had begun to spread across her face grow even bigger. I looked at her and she looked at me nobody moving until someone cleared there throat behind us and she blushed. Lilly stepped back took my hand and led me inside to the small cabin she had so recently exited.
I let out a low whistle the moment we stepped inside. The room was filled with several boxes of all sizes but what most surprised me was the half a dozen or so wolves trying to look busy. They'd been watching us I was sure of it but now inside they kept trying to look aways from us except for one. A young girl maybe the same age of Lilly glaring at us although Lilly didn't seem to notice her or the way she seemed to be at the verge of pouncing on her.
"Everyone this is Nathan, my mate, and Brad my brother." She introduced us and they waved at us. "Hi." I heard one cheerfull looking girl tell Daniel. He shook her hand and by the look in both there faces they seemed to like each other. "So guys, this are the twins Tom, Jerry, Jay, Marcus, Ashley and Casey. The girls are sisters." She added as she introduced each of them to us. Casey apperantly was the merrier of the two.
"So I see you guys are ready to move." Said Brad stating the abvious. "Yeah, we are. I wanted to leave tonight or very early tomorrow but I still gotta arrange for all the extra packages to be delivered to storage while I find a house where we all fit. But also arrange the flight home." Lilly exclaimed. "Well I got that covered." Brad added. "You got what covered? How?" Lilly asked him while she began to pace around the room.
"Well I got the home, and flight fixed already. We can take my private plane and go to the house I had built for you. I can also make the arrangements to have all the extra house packages delivered for you." Brad explained. "I gotta make a call." Daniel added and walked towards the back of the house leaving everyone else in the living room. The sulking girl followed Daniel with her eyes yet refusing to make eye contact when he tried looking at her at all.
Daniels POV
If we were to arrive at her old pack lands soon then it was a common curtesy to let the Alpha know a visiting Alpha would be coming to visit his land. Especially if that visiting Alpha had nearly a dozen gifted wolves with her. I took out my cell and called my Alpha so he could alert the Midvalley packs Alpha to our arrival. After a few rings a groggy Mathew Krieger answered, "Alpha Krieger here and this better be important."
"It is. Alpha Krieger, its Daniel, we'll be leaving this very night to the Midvalley pack and I thought it'd be appropriate if perhaps they got a heads up. After all it isn't just your daughter but nearly a dozen other wolves as well. Don't want the Alpha thinking we're spying or otherwise." I told him and heard him sigh. "So she's keeping the strays." He stated, "Alright, I'll give him a call so he knows to expect visitors. Anything else you let me know Daniel. I'm trusting you with my only heir. Protect her." He added before hanging up and put away my cellphone.
"I don't appreciate being watched." I said turning around to find Ashley in the door. I had heard her coming up to my door about five minutes after I hanged up. "I..." she began but didn't finish. My hard eyes slowly softened and I began to walk towards her. She looked so weak and her eyes displayed just how scared she was. I wanted to protect her with all my being but the moment I touched her...she flinched away.
I stayed still just a few mere inches away from her. She got closer closing the distance between us as she layed her head on my shoulder like a child. I didn't know if I should comfort her or just stay still. I chose the latter. I heard her take a deep breath as she inhaled my scent and sighed. I moved just an inch but in that inch I felt her stiffen and push me away. "I can't do this." She whispered as her expressiong once again grew cold.
She began to walk away but I grabbed her hand holding her in one place and for the first time I did something I promised myself I would never do, I begged. "Ashley, please I beg of you talk to me. I want to help you." This was apperantly the wrong thing to say. "Oh, yeah right. I know how guys like you help girls like me." She said her voice pure venom. She pulled her hand away from mine and walked away laughing sarcasticlly.
I stood there completely stunned at her words. What the hell could she have meant? I had no idea but maybe Casey, her sister would tell me or maybe not. After all they were sisters and she held no loyalty to me. My instincts told me something was wrong and not just about the way she reacted to my touch but I was to blinded to notice that danger was near us. The scent of upcoming doom was in the air but all I could think of was her, Ashley, my mate.
"Ok, so made my call and they'll be waiting for us." I said as I walked back into the living room. "Good, I also called my people and everything is ready to be moved tonight." I heard Brad add. "Tonight?" I asked him, "Yes, its a rush order so it can be delivered tomorrow afternoon. No wait no fuss." He said beaming at Lilly who smiled. "Must've been cheap." I whisper but nobody hears me. Well, nobody except for Lilly who glared at me.
"We can stay and wait for them or we can leave already. Your choice." He stated happily looking at Casey. I rolled my eyes, "Let's just leave now. There's nothing to eat here and I'm hungry besides Marcus hasn't eaten." Lilly said as if on cue Marcus's stomach grumbled. "You trust this people?" I asked Brad and he nodded. "They always work with us and nothings gone amiss before. There efficient, expensive, yes but very efficient and trustworthy." He said.
"Ok, then but we still need more cars. The rental we have outside won't fit everyone." I said and Lilly bit her lip. "We could just take three or four trips to get everyone to the plane." She stated. "Someone still has to stay here until the last group leaves." I added. "Ill stay behind to see everyone off before taking off myself." Lilly said and I couldn't help but shake my head. "Ill stay with you." I told her sternly and saw out of the corner of my eyes as Ashley glared at me.
Lillys POV
"Jay you could go with the first group. Brad with the second, Nathan you go with the third and Daniel stay with me and wait for Nathan to come back for us." I exclaimed and everyone nodded. "Is that ok with everyone?" I asked. "Sure." I heard a murmur of aggreement and clapped. "Ok, Marcus, Jay and Ashley you guys go first. Then it'll be Brad, Jersey and Caleb. Then Tom, Jerry, Casey and Nathan. Nathan you'll come back for Daniel and I." I stated.
Everything went by pretty quickly after we had decided what to do. Pretty soon it was just me and Daniel sitting in between a pile of boxes. 'Nathans on his way back now.' I heard Marcus tell me through our private mindlink. 'Thanx.' I replied and relayed the message to Danny who just sat there looking at something in the distance. "Danny? Danny?" I kept trying to get his attention but his mind was somewhere else entirely.
Suddenly my hand throbbed and I yelped out in surprise but just as quickly as it came it went. This apperantly jolted Daniel who looked at me worriedly. "Lilly! Are you, ok? What's wrong?" He asked me looking me up and down. "Danny, I'm ok but how are you?" I asked him and he pulled away from me. He looked away from me, "Danny? You can talk to me. I'm your friend." I told him heading towards him but he turned around sneering.
"My friend? You're my Alpha. Nothing more nothing else." He sneered at me his voice sarcastic and completely unlike him. If I wasn't seeing it I wouldn't know it was his but it was. The tone sounded familiar yet so unlike him. "Why would you even be interested!" He yelled at me his canines extending and I pulled back. He froze and a look of horror crept across his face. "Danny?" I asked him but he was silent.
"I'm sorry." He whispered the anger and venom from before had completely dissapeared. I hugged him and this time he didn't pull away, "I have no idea where this bursts of anger are coming from. I really don't know and its starting to worry me because I don't feel like that. Those feelings aren't my own." He whispered as we sat in the room waiting for Nathan. "Its ok Danny. I'm here for you. Do you hear me? I'm here for you because even if you don't see it that way I see you as a friend." I told him.
He nodded, "Thank you, Lilly." He answered me and we went back to complete silence. It was getting really late and I was completely exhausted from packing like a crazy person. I began to lay down and Daniel stayed up watching me. Had he not been my guard and friend I would have been completely weirded out but I wasn't. Slowly without noticing my tired eyes began to droop.
I kept fighting before agreeing with myself that I was just gonna take a quick nap. After all it would be several minutes before Nathan came back for us. That would give me a good hour or so to sleep before having to leave. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep my purse besides me with everything important. My luggage by the door and Danny standing guard protective of me. I wouldn't be long...Not long.
