Thomas was washing the dishes after breakfast to help his mom. Zaide and Zara were continuously arguing in low voices, and Andrew has left for work.
"You know, I've never thanked you either, mom." Thomas said as he gave the last cup to his mom to dry it and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "So, thank you."
"Moms don't do these things to hear thank you. They just want to give their children the best of everything." Molly replied. "Although, a little gratefulness is very much appreciated."
"I'm so lucky to have you." He whispered as a lump formed in his throat. Molly smiled and patted Thomas' hands to reassure him.
"Me too." Zaide's voice came as he entered the kitchen. "I've always thought of you as a second mother."
He was unable to imagine what would have happened to him if they did not insist him to stay.
Molly opened her hands in invitation and Zaide hugged her. Thomas squeezed them both.
Zara could not do anything but smile through her tears and be happy for her brother with a heavy sigh.
