Thomas shut his bedroom door behind him and sat down on the bed beside Zaide.
"Don't you like to be here?" Was Thomas' first question.
"What? Of course." Zaide was unsure where that was going.
"Then, don't you wanna be with me, in my house?"
"Are you kidding me? My own father had kicked me out. I've lost my own family. It feels too much. I don't deserve these all. This love..." Zaide fell apart, but no matter how much he just wanted to cry, no tears were left.
His body shook with dry sobs. Thomas pulled the boy in his arms.
"You have not lost your family. They're just angry, but it's gonna be okay, Zai. My mom said so. My parents love you just as their own. And, you deserve all of these and more."
Thomas finished and Zaide looked up. Thomas kissed him hoping it would be enough to put the boy back together.
Seeing Zaide like that, hurt Thomas the most.
