Anxiety filled Zaide's nerves as the final bell rang. Rome pulled him towards the lockers as he was excited to get ride back home from Dan and he did not want to make the other wait.
"Zaide, what's wrong?" Alisha asked as she noticed how distracted Zaide was. "You seem agitated."
That got Rome's attention too. He felt bad. He was so caught up in his own world that he overlooked his best friend.
"Nothing's wrong." Zaide tried to reassure, but his head hurt thinking too much about a certain boy.
He knew where Thomas and Zara would be and everyone knew what happened when you were alone with your partner in the library after the school was over.
He also knew Thomas could never like him the way he wanted and he needed proof. He needed closure for his unrequited feelings.
He needed to certify that Thomas was never in his league.
