As lunch rolled in, Zaide was tired and so was Rome and Alisha.
They stood in the line, but soon Seven came to taunt Zaide.
It did not last long as Alisha snapped and yelled at him, then Thomas came out of nowhere, as usual.
"You, fucker, don't show your face in front of us again!" Alisha shouted at the top of her voice.
"Stop it!" Zaide snapped making everyone silent in the cafeteria. "I can protect myself. I don't need your help."
He left the room with unshed tears. Maybe he said those words to Alisha, but Thomas knew they were directed at him.
The sudden outburst from the quiet, shy boy left silence in his wake and a pang in Thomas' heart.
