Until I Met You

Chapter 3

"Kylie can you please take care of table six" Lilly asked walking past me

It was the afternoon and the Diner was starting to get really busy and crowed

"Tegan follow me" I said walking over to table six

Tegan got up from her seat and followed me over to a family that has been in here a couple of times before, they were sitting patiently

"I was beginning to think nobody saw us" John joked holding up his menu

"I know I'm very sorry what could I get you today" I asked

John said his order and so did his wife but his little boy couldn't decide on anything "Josh come on please we don't want to hold her up" John said

The little boy stared at the menu once again "I don't know yet" he said with a shrug

"That's it he will have the grilled cheese" his mom said grabbing the menu away

"I don't want that" Josh said trying to grab it back

"I can come back later" I said putting my notepad away

I don't know why I still carry it anymore I usually can remember what everyone orders

"No he is having the grilled cheese he had a chance" the mom said giving me a polite smile

But the little boy wasn't having it "I don't want that I want to choose" he said throwing a tantrum

"hey Josh" I said and he stopped stomping his foot enough to look at me "you want to choose how we make the sandwich"

He thought for a minute "sure" he answered with a smile

I bent down to his level and smiled back "so we can use yellow cheese or white"

He thought for a moment "yellow" was his answer "great now do you want them in triangles or we can shape them into little dinosaurs just for you"

Josh face lit up with excitement "Dinosaurs"

"Alright coming right up" I said putting the note pad into my apron, John mouthed a thank you at me

"Why did I have to follow you" Tegan asked as we walked into the kitchen

I recited the orders to Matt our cook and walked over to the sink "now you know what to do" I tossed over an apron to her and smiled

"Be as polite as possible and speak when needed and also try to get the orders right, listen to the customers" I walked out from the back and over to the main counter

"Why do I have to do it" she asked following me

"We are under staff because a lot of people got sick or couldn't make it so you are going to help out" I grabbed the coffee pot and walked around the counter

"Kylie table four please" Mrs. Campwell yelled over at me

"On it" I yelled back

"I'm not sure if I can do this "Tegan said tying the apron "I'm not like you ok"

I stopped and looked at her "You can do this you don't have to be me"

"Kylie table four" Lilly said this time

"I'm on it" I said back "just refill the cups for the people at the counter if they ask or ask them if they want a refill"

"Kylie" Mrs. Campwell and Lilly yelled at the same time

I quickly turned around "I'm go- "

A hot burning sensation soaked my legs and lower abdomen I looked down to a broken coffee pot and the hot brown liquid staining my cream color shirt and blue jeans

"I'm so sorry" a similar male voice said

I looked up to see none other than the guy who tried to run me over earlier

I quickly ran back to the kitchen

"Kylie are you ok" Tegan asked coming over to me I looked over at her and smiled

"Yea go take care of the customers out there ok"

She gave me a look but walked back out

I looked back down at my body that was still on fire

I walked over to the sink and grabbed a towel quickly soaking it in cold water pressing it on the burns

I went over to Lilly's bag and pulled out another shirt putting it on quickly I looked down at my pants and sighed I went over to a box that was sitting in the far right that held all the old uniforms and slipped on a pair of pants that was a size to big

Once I walked back out I went over to table four trying to ignore the people who were staring at me concerned when I walked by

"Hi what can I get for you today" I asked looking over at all the guys at the table

There was about four men at the table all dressed in suits and one face that is starting to become familiar was upon them

"Are you ok" He asked looking at me worried

I put on my best fake smile "I'm fine what can I get you" They all looked over the menu

"This is our first time here so what would you recommend" Mystery guy asked handing me his menu

I thought for a second "The Chicken Alfredo is a great choice"

Mystery guy and one of his friends order the Alfredo while the other two order sandwich's

I can't wait for this day to be over with
