HAWKINS BLEEDING! CHAPTER TWENTY NINE:
THE SAUNA TEST
They stood watching Billy on the lifeguard tower to see if he looked different—more than usual of course. Showing any signs they knew of. "I don't know he looks pretty normal to me" Max said taking the binoculars away from her eyes
"Normal? How many times have you seen him with his shirt on?" Lucas asked
"Okay, that's a little weird"
"More than a little" Mike said "He was in a tub of ice and the Mind Flayer likes it cold. plus everything else, I don't think Stephenies vision is wrong"
"But he's lounging at the pool, which is like the least mind flayer thing ever"
"Not necessarily." Will said and everyone looked at him "The Mind Flayer, He likes to hide. He only used me when he needed me. It's like.... like your dormant. And then when he needs you. Your activated" he explained
"Okay so we just.. wait until he gets activated"
"No. What if he hurts someone"
"Or kills someone" Stephenie said
"We can't take that chance, we need to figure out if he's the host" Mike said, before standing up and walking towards the pool
"Where are you going?" El asked
"I have an idea. Boys only"
"Seriously?" Stephenie asked
"Just trust me on this one!" Mike yelled back. Stephenie rolled her eyes
Stephenie and El walked into the storage room to find a toy dummy to be in the locker room for Mikes plan that he had.
"this should work good" Stephenie said, turning to El who nodded "good"
"Hey I found the breakers" Mike came in the storage closet and saw the dummy in Stephenies arms "woah, that thing is super creepy, let me see it" Mike said coming in and taking the dummy from her. "I think this will work, right buddy? Right mike" he said with a higher voice making himself chuckle and El grabbed the dummy from him and walked away but—
"wait, El" Mike said and El turned
"I'm gonna go" Stephenie said walking away
later that night the plan was ready to go and they all stood in the locker room waiting for the right moment to start. Stephenie got a thumbs up from Lucas to start.
Stephenies opened the men's change room door, and closed it loudly
"Pool is closed" Billy said and Stephenie ran to the lockers, making noise on them to trap him in the locker room.
"Hey!" Billy yelled "you hear me?" Billy tried to get out to the pool area but they had locked the door. Stephenie switched the lights off, and slowly made her way back to the group before Billy saw her
"Billy" Mike said in a high pitched voice— to sound like a girl
"What?"
"Billyyy" he said in a sing-song voice
"Who's thereee" Billy said back in the same sing-song voice
"Billy, come on" Mike giggled
"You think this is funny huh?"
"Billy come and find me"
"I find you and it's your funeral" Billy said, his voice getting louder indicating he was close and Stephenie ran to the last door, quickly going in and to hide with the group jsut in time for Billy to come in
"Billy" the sound echoed through the room
"Got you" Billy said before going towards the sauna, where the dummy was with a walkie attached to it. Billy laughed, while clapping.
"Come get me you piece of shit" Billy opened the sauna door and went inside, grabbing the dummy in confusion
"Hey, behind you" Billy turned to Eleven who stood before him
"Hi" Eleven used her powers to shove him against the wall making him grunt.
