HAWKINS BLEEDING! CHAPTER FOURTEEN:
NOBODY'S WEARING COSTUMES

Today was Halloween. Stephanie never really dressed up to go to school, mostly wearing a scary mask or something. Her parents had asked for pictures so she stood on the stairs while Steve had a camera taking pictures of her.

"Seriously Steve? Are we done?" She asked Stephanie crossed her arms

"Yes, mom and dad asked for pictures" Steve said
"and that's what their gonna get"

"If they wanted to see me they could be here" Stephenie retorted. Steve sighed and lowered the camera from his face

"Smile" he said and Stephenie rolled her eyes and put on a fake smile

"Steph seriously, just smile" Steve told her

"I am" she said through her teeth and Steve pursed his lips and took one last photo

"Really nice Steph, mom and dad will love to see you looking scary on halloween"

Stephenie and Steve got to the school, she went towards the bike racks in time for Mike, Dustin and Lucas to ride up on their bikes. Joyce was driving Will everywhere now ever since they found him. Stephenie didn't blame her of course because she was very stressed when Will went missing.

"Who you gonna call?"

"Ghost busters!" Will called from behind them and the boys smiled While greeting each

"Wow, I'm impressed with the dedication boys" Stephenie clapped slowly with a smirk on her face

She got distracted and caught herself looking at Will, but quickly looked away when Mike elbowed her. She looked up at him and He smirked, he was the only one who knew about her crush

"Guys" Dustin said

"Guys!" They turned around now relishing they were the only ones wearing costumes

"Why is no one else wearing costumes?"

"Why do people make these decisions" Dustin asked as they walked down the hall in a line

"Everyone dressed up last year" Will said

"Be cool"

"Who you gonna call, the nerds!" A random kid called out

Stephenie walked beside Will as they, people teased the boys but Stephanie was quick to defend them, holding a fist up to them but Will or Mike pulled her back

After class Stephenie decided to find Max at her locker, and walked up to her.
"Hey Max" she said leaning on the locker beside hers

"Hey Steph" Max said and turned to her "you skateboard?" She asked

"Yeah" Stephenie nodded

"Wow, didn't know that"

"I found it in my garage this morning— I think it was Steve's"

"Steve? Is he your brother?"

"Yeah, older brother"

"That's cool. he nice to you?"

"Now he is, last year was kinda bumpy"

"My step brothers a dick"

"Maybe he'll come around, I mean Steve did?"

"No, not him. anyways, what's up?"

"My friends are the only ones who dressed up today" Stephenie said

"The Stalkers?" Max chuckled "That's funny I'd love to see that"

"Well, your about to see two" Stephenie said noticing Dustin and Lucas were walking over and they stopped on the other side of Max

"Uh, hi Max. I'm Dustin and this is—"

"Lucas"

"Ya I know, the stalkers"

"Wh-what no w-we weren't stalking you"

"y-ya we were just concerned"

"For your safety"

"Ya there are a lot of bullies here I-Its c-crazy" Stephenie rolled her eyes at the boys lame attempt at talking to max

"Is that why your wearing proton packs?"

"These don't actually function but I do have this, handy dandy trap and it even opens and closes" Dustin opened the trap

"Voilà, it's cool right, no? Ok so we were talking last night and we were thinking since your new here, you probably don't have anyone to go trick or treating with and your scared of bullies, so we thought it would be ok if you came with us"

"It would be ok?"

"Ya our party's a democracy and majority voted you could come, right steph?"

Max tuned and smirked at Stephenie "wow I didn't release it was such an honor to go trick or treating with you"

"We know how to get the full size candy bars, we figured you'd want in"

"That's presumptuous of you"

"Ya totally, Uh so um you'll come?" Max closed her locker and walked away, Stephenie smirked at the two boys

"We're meeting at the maple street cul-de-sac at 7:00. seven on the dot!"

"Good job boys" Stephenie said sarcastically
"Presumptuous" Dustin had a smile on his face "thats a good Thing right?"

Stephenie decided to let Dustin figure that out on his own, shaking her head and walking away after ruffling Dustins hair

Lucas walked away as well and Dustin soon to follow she heard Dustin asking "is it bad?"
Stephenie laughed at the two boys.

Sometimes they were clueless.

After school Stephenie was riding the skateboard she found in the garage. she was just behind Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will who were on their bikes. they heard something coming fast and Stephenie turned her head to see a blue mustang shooting Down the road she tried to speed up but the car moved to where she was. Stephenies breathing started to get shorter and she pushed too hard on her board and fell right on her arm crying out in pain

"Stephenie!" The boys cried out, Her skate board ended up in the middle of the road.

The impact knocked the wind out of her and Stephenie closed her eyes trying to get her breathing back to normal.

she felt something wrap around her, Stephenie opened her eyes to see Will beside her. she blushed and her breathing slowed down. She stood up and her eyes went to the middle of the road to see her skateboard in two half's

"shit" she said sighing "great, now I have to walk" dustin picked up the two peices and put them in his backpack

"You can sit on the back of mine" Mike said.

Mikes bike was the only one with an extra seat, she secretly wished she could have sat on wills bike but, at least she wasn't walking home

"Who was in the car?" Stephenie questioned

"Billy Hargrove and Max"

"Are you still going to be able to come for Halloween?"

"Ya it will probably take a bit for the cast, I think I broke it"

Stephenie had her arms loosely wrapped around Mike as they got to her house and as they got there, Steve pulled in the driveway.
"Steph what happened?" Steve said running over to her like a distressed mother

"I fell off the skateboard" Stephenie said

"Where's the skateboard?" Steve asked and Dustin reached into his bag and pulled out the two broken half's of the board as Stephenie smiled innocently. Steve sighed

"Come on, let's get you to the hospital" Steve turned to the three boys "She'll be back soon"
