HAWKINS BLEEDING! CHAPTER FOURTY THREE:
LIFE OR DEATH

"I know this may be really upsetting and shit, but that future prom queen is gonna be fine" Argyle told the four kids who were squished in the backseat of his van. "It's just like rubber wheels" he said. Stephenie tapped her finger on her leg as they drove down to road towards the Byers house. she couldn't help but wonder what had just happened to her. How could she just simply end up in a different dimension?

"Plastic" Jonathan corrected him

"Oh"

"Not like hard plastic... just the soft kind"

"Totally"

"Do you ever wonder why the wheels aren't wood, man? Or metal? So people don't get hurt when they get shmacked"

"Oh"

"Yeah. Because it happens more than you think man" Argyle told them "roller skate attacks Man. Hey, at least it wasn't an ice skate. That nose would've been sliced clean off, man."

"Is that supposed to mark us feel better?" Stephenie asked, her voice carrying a sense of imbalance

"It could've been so much worse."

"So much worse"

"In the grand scheme of things, it's just a little blip."

"That's a funny word, man"

"Blip. Blip." Both teenage boys said in sync "Blip, blip, blip, blip, blip, blip, blip" Jonathan and Argyle continued on and Stephenie turned to look at Will.

As the six entered the Byers home, they were met with opera music which was weird because Joyce didn't seem the type to listen— nor had she ever heard it on. They walked through the house towards the music. "Mom?" They closed the door behind them. They walked towards the kitchen and to Stephenies surprise she saw Murray.

"Well, well! Aren't you lot a sight for sore eyes, huh?" Murray exclaimed

"Hi Murray" Jonathan said Happily towards the man

"Hey" Stephenie waved to him

"You kids like Risotto?" He asked and they nodded

Stephenie sat in between Jonathan and Arglye at the dinner table listening to Murray go on. She could tell Both of the teenagers were very high.

"There I was, headed down the I-5, going to see a client in Ventura. I'm looking for a motel to stay for the night, and suddenly, bam, it hits me Didn't the Byers move here?"

"Small world, isn't it? It's a small world." Joyce said

"So I thought, Hey, you know what? Why don't I drop in, say hello to my old friends?" Murray chuckled

"It's so sweet of you"

Sweeter of you to let me stay."

"And he cooks." Joyce addd happily

"Mm, and cleans. A regular little housewife"

"You should stay." Joyce told him

"I'd be tempted, Joyce, except, you know, you have that, uh.." Murray trialed off and Joyce went to finish his sentence

"Right, that business trip." Joyce said

"Business trip? What business trip?"

"Oh my gosh. I almost forgot to tell you guys. This thing came up at work." She explained
