HAWKINS BLEEDING! CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE:
DONT DIE
Stephenie sat on the ledge of the planters with Steve laying a protective arm over her. She felt her eyes go very heavy as the group caught up Joyce, Hopper and the man who she learned was Murray about what happened in their absence. "The mind flayer, is building this monster in Hawkins. To stop El and now Stephenie, to kill them and pave a way into our world" Mike explained
"And it almost did kill Stephenie, that was just one tiny piece of it" Lucas added
"How big is this thing?" Hopper asked
"It's big, thirty feet at least" Jonathan said
"Yeah. it sorta destroyed your cabin, sorry" Lucas apologized
"Okay just to be clear, this big fleshy spider thing that hurt Stephenie, it's like some sort of big..... weapon?" Steve asked
"Yes" they all said
"But instead of, like, screws and metal, the mind flayer made his weapon out of, melted people" he said again
"Yes exactly" Mike said
"Yeah, okay, just making sure" Steve said nervously
"Are we sure this thing is still out there, still alive?"
"Stephenie and El beat the shit out of it, but yeah. It's still alive" Max told Joyce
"But if we close the gate again"
"We cut the brain from the body"
"We kill it. Theoretically" Dustin said
"Yoo hoo" The man from earlier said "yoo hoo" He said again while waving around papers and coming up to the group quickly.
"This is what alexi called the hub. Now, the hub takes us to the vault room"
"Where's the gate?"
"I'm not sure but it's fairly close to the vault room. Maybe 50 feet or so?"
"More like 500" Erica said walking up "what your just going to walk in there like it's commie Disney land or something?"
"Who are you?"
"Erica Sinclair, Who are you?" She sassed
"Murray.....Bauman."
"Okay mr bauman, I'm not trying to tell you how to do things but I've been down in that shithole for 24 hours, and with all due respect, you do what this man tells you to, your all gonna die"
"Im sorry, why is this four year old speaking to me?"
"Uh, I'm ten, you bald bastard"
"Erica!" Lucas yelled
"Just the facts!"
"She's right, your all going to die, but you don't have too. Excuse me. Sorry May I?" Dustin asked
"Please" Murray said
"See this room Right here? This is the storage facility, there's a. Hatch in there that feeds into there under ground ventilation system. That will lead you right to the ground of the machine, between me and Erica we can show you the way"
"You'll show us the way" Hopper repeated
"Don't worry, you can do all the dangerous shit and the hero stuff. We'll just be your........ navigators"
"No... No" Hopper said
"Well that settles it, he's gonna die, there gonna die"
"Most likely"
"You guys survived" Stephenie said
"Barley. We could've really used you guys down there"
"We could've used you up here too"
"Yeah, we missed you up here dude"
"Yeah. Big time" Will added looking to Stephenie and smiling
"Yeah, I missed you guys too, big time" then the had a bit of a group hug before Erica butted in.
"Please don't cry nerds"
"Erica" Lucas said
"Keep saying my name, see what happens"
"Hey, head up. You can navigate, just from someplace safe."
"This won't work, it won't reach. You need something high freaquency, to relay with the Russians radio tower, but for that to work you need some who has both seen there comms room and has access to a super powered handcrafted radio tower, one already situated at the highest point in Hawkins. Oh wait, thats me. If you want us to navigate, you got us. But we need a head start. And a car"
as the group started to leave, Steve came over to Stephenie and grabbed her arm
"Come on Steph" Steve said pulling her towards the doors to go with Dustin, Erica and Robin.
"No" she said, pulling back
"What, your coming with me Stephenie, I need you safe" Steve said pulling her again
"Steve, they need me here, it's after me, not you" she told him "I can't risk it"
"Stephenie—" Steve said before getting cut off
"Steve" she spoke, looking him the eye "I'll be fine, now go" she said pushing him towards the door
Steve looked at her "alright fine, don't die" Steve said pointing a finger at her
"I won't" Stephenie held her hands up in defense and Mike was just behind her, and they walked to El and Hopper.
"We should probably go" Mike told El and Hopper as they were talking.
Stephenie wished she could have a bond like that with her dad. She barley sees him, it's Steve who's been there for her through all this.
Will and Max helped Stephenie walk, and they got outside. Stephenie grunted in pain.
"Steph, your bleeding" Max said
"Really? I didn't know" Stephenie remarked sarcastically
"Are you okay?" Mike asked
"Yeah"
"Here" Will said opening the door "lay down"
Stephenie winced as she got in the car. Nancy tried to start the car but it wouldn't turn on.
"What" Jonathan said
"I don't know" Nancy said as she tried again
"Didn't your mom just buy this car?" Lucas asked
"Yes. I'm sure it's fine"
"Did you leave the lights on?" Mike asked
"No"
"Do we have gas?" Lucas said
"Yes!" Nancy yelled and she tried again "Come on!"
"Woah Woah Woah,stop stop" Jonathan said "Pop the hood"
Nancy and Jonathan got out and stood at the front. Then they heard a engine rev. They turned there heads to see Billy in his car. All the sudden Nancy banged the window "back in the mall" she said while rushing everyone back in the mall. Will and El helped Stephenie back to the mall.
